My interest health care, care giving, and direct service was inspired by my mother who has been a nurse for about 30years. Her compassion for her work is reverent, and I have always had an aptitude for working and connecting with people. The opportunity to provide care/services to those in need, particular vulnerable populations felt like a calling, which led to my educational career in social work. My model for care giving is based on a question If my client was my family member or someone I loved dearly, how will I want them to be treated? This question guides my practices as a care provider, and with, that I come with compassion, respect, dependability, honesty, positivity and a high level of professionalism. I am passionate about health, wellness, and improving quality of life. My goal is to improve the well-being of my clients and their families.

I have been a caregiver since 2009. I have a great passion for taking care of others and have spent most of my working career doing so. I have extensive experience in almost every area providing care for this population. I have worked with a variety of Alzheimer's and dementia clients as well as Parkinson's, MS, Diabetes, severe respiratory issues, Huntington's disease , cancer and those on hospice all which include many different special needs. I have a degree in Psychology from CSUS that I earned in 1983. If there's something new I'm not familiar with, I'm more than willing to learn. I love to cook and most likely can make almost anything up on request. I'm always willing to do house cleaning and laundry. I take pride in my work and always go above and beyond what is expected of me. I enjoy conversing with those I provide care for, they always have such interesting memories and history. My mission is to always treat my clients with the compassion, respect and dignity they deserve. I also work at the San Juan Unified School District with Autistic preschool children which requires much energy, patience and understanding. I am also fully vaccinated. I have spent 27 years as a caregiver. I am a special education teacher and have taught/taken care of infants, preschoolers, K-12 and most recently my elderly father who was very frail with Dementia. I took him out of a full time care facility in CA to have him live with us on our farm here in KY. His favorite thing to do was to help feed the animals or socialize our animal babies. I thrive when taking care of others and I absolutely loved taking care of my dad, even though he wasn't necessarily the same dad that I knew growing up. He was very vulnerable and self conscious about his difficulties and I did everything I could to make him feel like we needed him here to help on the farm.

My initial goal of becoming a caregiver was to gain experience that I needed before entering nursing school. After working as a caregiver for over a year, I've come to absolutely love my job. For me, the best part about my job is that I am able to assist someone in a way that feels small to me but is a big impact to my recipient. Small actions go a long way and are appreciated! I never once felt like I was "working" because I genuinely looked forward to coming to work each time. Although there were some challenges along the way, I do not love my job any less.

I began working as a caregiver during my senior year of high school, I have since enjoyed every single part of being a caregiver, I have grown and learned so much that I am greatfull to have had this be my first job ever. I really enjoy being there for the family and their loved ones. I lost my grandparents from both sides of my family and I truly understand and appreciate how important it is to care and love our family. I consider myself a great listener and a very patient person. What I enjoy the most about being a caregiver is making my client and their families happy and know that their loved ones are in good hands. Something I am proud of is my job, I am proud of being a caregiver and proud of all the differences I have made in peoples lives.

I'm proud to have been able to take care of my grand mother over the years. Especially when she went through breast cancer as well as terminal lung cancer. My family has always told me that I was drawn to helping fix sick or injured animals and people. I find that it is very rewarding to help aid someone in recovery as well as helping them maintain a sense of dignity and pride no matter what their affliction, medical needs or personal needs may be. I'm calm, patient, dependable, honest and find it easy as well as enjoyable to interact with a variety of personalities. I've also provided travel assistance and support to terminal clients who wanted to visit family and vacation.

I am patient, kind, easy going, physically fit and able to do heavy lifting. I first became a caregiver during my father's battle with cancer. Giving back to the community is what I enjoy most about being a caregiver. Helping elderly people reside in their homes as opposed to having to live in nursing homes is important to me. My personal achievement is graduating college and obtaining four associate degrees as well as losing over 100 lbs in one year while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle for over 12 years.
