In the 1990's I retired early from my DC government job doing traffic engineering to take care of my parents before they passed. My father had a stroke which rendered him paralyzed and my mother fell ill to Alzheimer's disease. I took care of them both for a combine 10+ years. I began working for Care First as a Home Health Aide Assistant in 2015 to present. I am a patient and dependable person. I am very family ortiented and I treat all my clients with the same amount of respect as I did my parent.

Because I love taking care of seniors. I took care of my parents whilst I was a school teacher in my country.On relocating to the USA, I have decided to change my career. It has been twenty years now and my passion has grew. The respextra of the older generation I have taught to respect and to take care of the elderly. l have achieved the loved and respect from so many because of the care I put into my job as a caregiver. I am 56 years old, mother of 4 boys and 2 grandchildren. I was born in Guyana South America. I have relocated to the US since 1987. I lived in New York City for 4 years and moved to Maryland since then.

I became a caregiver because I love to help people.I love being a caregiver because I love to see how I make my residents smile and love to make them feel good about themselves.I am proud of myself for finishing my EKG class.I'm a single mom with two kids.I love to help people that can't help themselves anymore.And what I love the most is when they tell me how much I've help them.That makes me feel great.

I am a great caregiver because I am a good listener, I am observant and I am also caring which are the hallmarks for this position. I became a care giver because I want to assist person who may not necessarily have the skills to fend for themselves. My personal achievement that I am most proud of is not an accolade but its a mere thank you that I receive from someone that I provide care for who wouldn't otherwise be able to care for themselves.

I'm empathetic, compassionate, caring and patient. I have worked in a nursing home for a little over 2 years followed by a short amount of time in. What made this my chosen field is how I used to take care of a neighbor with my mother... her and I were very close and I had made up my mind about what I wanted to do. I am very sensitive to the needs of anyone in any capacity that needs assistance when they are unable to do for themselves, or due to an accident or medical condition, their entire lives have been changed from being independent to now relying on someone else. I am very accommadating and observe a residents needs before a sitiation occurs. I become familiar to a residents' likes,dislikes, habits, how they like things done a certain way or seen a certain way. I enjoy offering any assistsance that I can, from running errands to offering companionship to walking the family pet.

What makes a great care giver is the compassion and love you have for the person you are taking care of or assisting. It is impossible to care for someone else if you do not have genuine love and passion for what you are doing. When you love what you are doing, you can easily pass that along to someone else. Also, if you have had the experience of taking care of elderly people you will know that care giving is more than just helping people. It is all about the desire in your heart to really help the needy and incapacitated.

After my parents, grandparents past for closure I became a Certified Home Health Care professional. Although I have never used my certificate. I think this is very important and love to pursue a career.

I love what up do as a caregiver I been in this field for thirty two tears. My grandmother told as a little girl when I grow up my job would taking care of people all shape of form I had a family member that was very ill none of the children in my family would talk or play with my cousin I did because I treated my cousin as a normal person just like you and I an my cousin love me for that as off today he/ she is my guardian angel..
