Hello my name is Brittany. I believe I am a great caregiver because I am compassionate and sympathetic to one's needs. I started off my journey to becoming a home health aide after caring for my elderly grandmother who is legally blind after having a stroke. I like to treat every patient as though they are my grandmother someone who needs my love, care, and Companionship.

I believe the care given to patients and the ability to care for others is a gift that I possess. I'm originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. I moved to Jacksonville 26 years ago. I'm energetic, fun, loving, caring, compassionate, trustworthy, and dependable. I have wanted to be a nurse all my life. I now have the opportunity to do so. I became a Certified Nurse Assistant to begin working with patients while still enrolled in college, at Florida State College Jacksonville. I enjoy what I do, and love meeting new people. In the six years I've been a Certified Nurse Assistant I have had the opportunity to meet some beautiful people. I will continue my education until I become a registered nurse. I am a great caregiver because I have over seventeen years of experience in the field. I became a CNA when I graduated high school. I took four years of medical classes in high school to graduate with my CNA license, and a high school diploma. Since then, I have worked at long term care facilities, agencies, and private duty. I have experience working with the elderly community. During the time I provided home health care I enjoyed socializing and assisting my patient. I was able to learn a lot from the personal experience from my patient. Why did you become a Caregiver? My mother lost about 70% of her stomach from cancer and was in need of a Caregiver. I decided to quit my job at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and become her full-time Caregiver. What do you like about being a Caregiver? Clients really appreciate the service I provide for them. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? Putting my personal needs and wants aside to take care of my mother during a time when she was at her lowest point (emotionally, physically, mentally & financially), due to cancer. Tell us something about yourself. -I have seven years of experience as an Elderly Caregiver (Dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Cancer, Hepatitis B & C, and other medical conditions). -I am Honest, friendly, and very compassionate with all my clients. I know how important it is to focus on helping my clients use the skills they currently possess and to be patient with any limitations they have. -I am a military wife, mom of 4 adult children, and 2 grandchildren. I'm also a part-time student at Florida State College of Jacksonville.

I'm very compassionate and a generous person. I try to help people in need and I enjoy taking care of them. A personal achievement I'm proud of is seeing my patients get better with our care and to support them when no one else is there. My schedule varies each week due to 12 on 12 off schedule, so I will not be able to work the same days every week. I am happy to work out a schedule with you.

Taking care of my great grandmother was very rewarding, I truly enjoyed it so I became a CNA. Helping my clients, and easing their fears and their families, by elevating any concerns they my have concerning their care is truly rewarding to me. When I complete a case the family, and my clients have received excellent care and service I pride myself with being an excellent care giver. I am in school currently, my desire is to be a Social Worker. Hopefully working with clients.

Growing up I've always enjoyed helping out my great aunt and all of her friends, she lived to be 105. I love the stories they have tell and helping others when needed. Being a caregiver allows me to show them, that just because they are unable to get around like they use does not make them any less important. My all time personal achievement to me is two things, having the capability to take care of my Grammy and becoming a foster parent to help children in limbo know that they are still loved no matter what. I am a loving, caring 35 year old female caregiver who provides outstanding compassionate care. It was throughout this experience I developed a passion for memory care. As an advocate for those experiencing the challenges associated with dementia, I guide my care by keeping abreast with the latest research and guidance whilst working with clients who have dementia. For example I actively promote the inclusion of healthy nutritious meals with 'brain foods' that improve memory, mood and cognition. In addition to this, I am trained in chair based exercises devised by the British Gymnastics Association and Cogntive Stimulation Therapy, both of which have been proven to improve cognitive stimulation and social interaction for those affected by dementia . Even with limited mobility these exercises and activities can have a significant impact.
