I LOVE helping people which is why I am currently pursing my education in nursing. What makes me so compassionate for others is I always think of myself in others' shoes; if I was in need, how would I want someone to respond and care for me? My greatest accomplishment is that I managed to graduate college with little to know resources or guidance and support. It was a difficult time for me, but I pushed through. We can all accomplish things independently, but achieve more with a helping, supporting hand. And that further solidifies my reasons for choosing a helping field.

My working lifetime has been in social service occupations. This reflects my own interest in making a difference in the lives of others. My experience as a teacher, and counselor counselor reflects this interest. I have volunteer counseling experience at the Johnston R. Bowman Center for the Elderly at Rush Presbyterian Hospital and have studied gerontology at IIT and Jane Addams School of Social Work. Currently I assist in the care of my 98 year-old mother who suffers from early dementia, COPD, hearing loss and the loss of most of her eyesight. I feel that my own attributes of empathy, patience and reflective listening have been instrumental to my success in working with the elderly. My greatest satisfaction comes from assisting clients to be more self-sufficient and improve their mood when their having a difficult day. A mile is the best reward. I have been in some sort of care giving or counseling role my entire career - which at this point has spanned a few decades. I really enjoy serving and supporting others to help them achieve their best. As I've gotten older and started to experience some related challenges on occasion, it has become more important to me to bring a positive and caring presence to this population. Greetings, I am a mother of four adult children with three grandchildren. My educational background (in a previous life) is in business, retail management and higher education. Nevertheless, I have over two years of experience as a live-in home care assistant and find that I enjoy working with seniors. I am professional, knowledgeable, caring, patient and personable.
