I have been a caregiver for approximately 6 years now. I decided to become a caregiver because i believe that everyone deserves a good quality of life. I had a grandmother who lived to be 112 years of age and i took on the responsibility of caring for her. i am very compassionate about what i do and i do it to the best of my knowledge. My passion in life is to care for others, helping those who need to get better to be better and also for those who just need the companionship and making the transition easy for them. i have worked with various clients of all different age and i love what i do. I am a graduate student with a degree in psychology and planning on furthering my education. i have a 6 year old daughter and i am very family oriented. I am fully dedicated to my work and i guarantee my employers will have no regrets.

Hello, My whole life I have been taking care of people. I was a preschool teacher and then in the social service field for over 25 years. During that time, I worked with special needs adults. I worked in a residential facility, job coached, ran an evaluation program and found jobs for people with disabilities. Unfortunately after 18 years at my last job, too many changes were happening and I had to leave. Now I'm a transition aid at a day program working only part time. I have 4 kids and a dog that's like my kid. I love to clean, cook, read, travel, bowl, go out to dinner , watch movies, and, take long walks with my dog. I had a very special relationship with my grandma. She was my best friend and 18 years she has been gone and I still miss her everyday. She was the best thing about my life . My mom always seemed to be taking care of her elderly aunts, so I of course was always helping. I also had a good relationship with my aunt and took care of her until she had to go into a nursing home. I loved helping her. Loved brightening her days. I would cook, clean, and shop for her. Sometimes just hang out. I hope I can find a job where I be a companion. I am very dependable, energetic, friendly , reliable and outgoing. I wil treat you or your loved one like gold! Right now my schedule allows me some flexibility, but Tues and Thursdays, I cannot work due to my part time job I have now. I also live in Niles, so would not want to go further than 10 miles. I have always been an empathetic person. I receive a great amount of gratification by helping people. I feel I can make a difference in an individuals life with a helping hand or just take the time to listen to the wants and needs of others. I consider myself a handy woman that includes making dinners to fixing the hinge on the door! A personal achievement or accomplishment would be to have raised to beautiful boys and put them through college as a single parent. My husband passed away at a very young age and I believe that inner strength and positive attitude is your most powerful asset in life.

Hi, I am caring, outgoing, responsible and a good friend. My name is Resa. I live in the Oakland Bay Area. I have been in the Care Companion/Activities Coordinator role for the past 15 years! I am originally from Chicago and moved here in 1979. I consider myself an experienced Care Companion and Activity Planner. I do not do medical care! I do all kinds of companion care including: Transportation, light meal planning, light housekeeping, keep my clients company, shopping and take to theater music and concerts! I became interested in being a care companion while overseeing my Mother's care in an assisted living community. I felt that the activities and caring for the residents is what I really wanted to do. I have been doing that ever since. I love working with the residents or clients and love working with them and getting to know them. I enjoy helping them to succeed in whatever path they are on. I find working with them and helping enjoy their day just wonderful.

I have been in some sort of care giving or counseling role my entire career - which at this point has spanned a few decades. I really enjoy serving and supporting others to help them achieve their best. As I've gotten older and started to experience some related challenges on occasion, it has become more important to me to bring a positive and caring presence to this population. My career as a teacher drives me to want to help others outside of the classroom. The event that sparked my desire to become a caregiver is when my mom was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. I knew I wanted nothing more than to help her and serve her in anyway possible in her last days of life. Her desire was for me to be with her every step of the way from doctor appointments, dressing, bathing, and scheduling appointments. She refused to be cared for by nurses. She knew I would show her the compassion and care she needed. I know if I was able to do this for my mom, I could show the same care for others. Every professional needs to embody particular characteristics and traits that make them stand out and great at that profession. As a caregiver, compassion is one of the important characteristics along with empathy. Having empathy and compassion shows people you care for them on a deeper level in order to help them. Moreover, having patience in every situation and scenario as well as being trustworthy because people receiving care are in a vulnerable position who invite you into their home, private space, and family. Lastly, as a caregiver, on needs to be reliable and flexible. People receiving care depend on you to be there when they need you. This means being there to provide the care on a scheduled basis and unexpected basis.

Hey there, my name is Michael. I just graduated from Mchenry County College with my Associate's Degree and am enrolled and start my Bachelor's Degree in August. My concentration in school is in Physical Education, I will eventually go on to become a gym teacher. I have been a Personal Trainer for for 7 years now, working at small gyms in the Huntley area like, going vertical and big gyms like Lifetime Fitness in Algonquin. I have had my own business for 3 years now and it is amazing. The thing is, I only work part-time hours, which is great when I am a full-time student. This summer I am not taking summer school classes so I have some extra time on my hands. I served tables and have done manual labor jobs for summer gigs but was looking for something different, something more rewarding and less stressful. So, I joined Carelinx hoping to spread the word about my business and find someone in the community who may be looking to hire someone part-time to help take care of and be friends with an elderly loved one. Hello. I have a heart for the elderly community. Before, my fathers passing this year I would assist and support him with multiple tasks before his health began to take a turn for the worse. Going thru that experience has taught me a lot about having compassion and how to be empathetic to everyone around me especially your loved ones. I am a very well rounded individual, I am outgoing, caring, sweet but fun. I am a mother to a son with Autism and a mild case of cerebral palsy. I advocate for my son.
