In-Home Care came very personal to me when I lost my mother back in 2010 I was her so care provider and then losing my dad in 2013 I was his sole care provider doing everything for both of my parents. I worked for a Home Heath Agency for several years but did not like the way it was ran, due to its lack of professionalism, decided to try a different route. I became a caregiver because I care and love helping others. I'm very passionate about this field that I'm in. Why you might ask, because of my mother. It started 23 years ago when she became very ill. I was her caregiver. Doing this time it was hard for me. I lived in another state and I also had a 2 year old. When she became ill I moved back home to take care of her even though I had 3 older siblings and 1 younger sibling. I want to be the one that she can lean and depend on. Doing this time she had her leg amputated. I had to learn how to do sterile dressing and assist her with using a colostomy bag. I also prepared her meals for her and schedule her doctor appointments. I enjoyed taking care of her. Just knowing that I was able to be there for her made me very happy. It was stressful at times but I wouldn't change one second of it. That was my high lite of my day just knowing she was well taking care of. I learned a lot about my self doing this time; I've learned that I had a lot patient and compassion for others. This experience have change my life for the better. It gave me the drive and the determination to take care of others, other family members and to become a CNA.

I became a Caregiver because I enjoy caring for and helping others who can't help themselves. Being able to provide a person with companionship and help clients know that they can make it living alone or in a facility. There is help out there and people who enjoy helping them. I am proud of the fact that I was able to finish school while I was working. I was able to still put a smile on my clients face everyday and still meet my goal. I been a caregiver for 10 years now, I been working in ALF specializing in alzheimer and memory care patients. I had a medical background. I took medical assistant for almost 2years but didnt take the board exam, but I was a certified phlebotomist which i let my certification expired. I have a background in pharmacology and CNA which expired also. I am a medtech which i can assist giving medicine as a caregiver. I just love taking care of the elderly specially who those in need. I am very compassionate and i make people smila happy everyday. I wouldnt be working in this field for 8 years of experience if i did not love what i do.
