I have 20 years of experience in the medical/nursing field. I've worked in nursing homes, hospitals, and agencies and have found that in home care is the field best suited for me. I tend to be drawn toward Alzheimer/dementia patients as I'm learning my approach in care, they tend to respond to me best. I have worked with several families and helped to restore certain independence to patients with walking, dressing, feeding themselves. I ran a restorative therapy program for over two years in a nursing facility before deciding to take a home care position with an agency.

My name is Danna Biggs and I'm 60 years old..I am now a Indiana Certified Nursing Assistant.I live in Evansville Indiana I have been a caretaker for over 20 years I m drawn to it because it's what I love to do.Assisting individuals with tasks as needed makes me feel like I'm a actually making a difference in their quality of life.Ive worked with individuals in their home and I've assisted individuals in a Nursing home and in hospital.Ive assisted the individuals with adls,cooking,cleaning etc and out in community with shopping concerts,to appointments and to work or day program or activity.I also administered medications ,and documented in Mars.I can document on paper or on computer.I worked with Special Needs, sometimes mentally disadvantaged sometimes mentally and physically handicapped or just physically disabled.Im dependable and will work my scheduled hours and even overtime if necessary or as needed.I treat all my clients or individuals with care and respect and dignity.The individuals are safe and in good hands with me.

I think I am a great caregiver because I pay strict attention to the needs and wants of my clients. I became a caregiver, after I retired, because I love people and have a passion to help. What I like most about being a caregiver is the fact that I am able to be of assistance in any way that I can for people. Caregiving has been my lifelong job and passion. I have spent 28 years raising a family of 6 children, 3 of which are still at home. Putting the needs of others first has always been a priority for me. In most recent years I have chosen to add caregiving to my life and continued with my career as a business owner and professor's assistant. I have chosen to do this because I feel I can always give just a bit more. My degrees in Psychology and Human Services have given me a solid understanding of human behavior and just how fragile we can be in times of need. Giving back to my community in the form of caregiving gives me the opportunity to make a difference in a person and family's life. Each semester I am given the opportunity to make that difference. Providing care for those that need help so they may stay in their homes and make daily life easier is what I can do to give back. Using my skills and understanding to positively impact someone's life is something I am proud of. I was given the opportunity to care for a Dementia/Alzheimer's client for 5 years. I truly embraced each step of her illness journey providing her with understanding, care, and companionship, helping her to maintain her dignity and live her best life during those final years. On fun note, I am also a dog lover! My hobbies are spending time with my family, hiking, gardening and reading.

I been caring for my Grandmother all my life, and it gives me great joy to see her happy. I love her with all my heart and will do anything to keep that smile in her face, I make sure that shes safe, clean, and happy. I guarantee anybody who trust me with their love ones that i will do same. I also know that its hard to trust a stranger into your homes, and I will be no stranger to you or your grandmother or your parents. I love to help others, and make sure that they don't feel like they are imprisoning in their own home.

As a small girl, I always wanted to help the elderly and anyone less fortunate than me.I was raised by 2 very loving, church going parents. I have been a cna for 11 years and a qma for 4 years. I also have my certificate to give insulin. I love taking care of people and I'm currently in school to become a nurse. Since doing agency I always thought about having one client I can take care of, bond with, and be there for them as long as I'm needed. I have been a caregiver my entire life, I started out as a CNA at age 17 I did that as well as home health care for several years then I went to college and acquired my associates degree in Medical Assisting. Then I worked at an opthalmology practice for 3 years then a Cardiology center for 2 and most recently I've been employed as a direct care staff taking care of clients in their home. I'm honest, dependable, caring, empathetic and I just love taking care of people.

I became a nurse when I was 27 years old to help others in need. It is a fulfilling reward when you help someone who truly needs your help.
