Hi, my name is Hayley Thagard! I am currently working on getting my Bachelors degree in Social Work to work with the senior population so getting a job like caregiving would be very rewarding and fun as I have a love to all the seniors and enjoy working with them! I am a great worker and am always putting the needs of others before myself and making sure that the seniors are taking care with the best care possible. My love for working with seniors started with me working at nursing homes and made me want to get my social work degree to work with them! I enjoy getting to listen to the seniors and getting to know them while helping them and making sure they are comfortable and happy with everything!

I have 10 years of experience as a caregiver. I have cared for the elderly affected by Alzheimer's and dementia. I have cared for patients on hospice and end of life care. My duties include light housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, medication administration, doctors appointments, grocery shopping and other errands. I enjoy working with the elderly because I connect with them easy and most of them have a great sense of humor. Caregiving is more than just a pay check: It is rewarding to know that I am making a difference in someone's day.

I have been a NA/CNA for 20 yrs now because I love caring for people. I enjoy seeing the people I care for progress in their recovery. Then by the time they are able to go home knowing that I was able to assist them and be part of their recovery journey is always wonderful. I've had many rewards throughout my 20 yrs as a caregiver. What's makes a great Caregiver is someone that has compassion for what they do. That comes with being honest, genuine, patient, and loving. I believe I am all those and more. I always try to connect with people, make memories and become a part of their life. I love to read, write, and I absolutely love puzzles. I have been a certified nursing assistant for a year now, with that CNA license I also carry a certified medication aides license giving me the ability to administer medication as well. I am going to school at JCCC and I do work as well. Mostly during the day. I've had multiple different kinds of experience with allot of people. I have had experience with residents that have had a g-tube, I have personal experience when it comes to that. I also have experience with trachea, a colostomy, someone being paralyzed, and also residents that have Dementia. I love my job and what I do. Being able to make memories with those that I see everyday makes my heart glow. The achievement that I am most proud of is escaping a harsh environment with my child by my side. And finding a passion I long for which is making others smile. Doing the best I can as a mother, a caregiver. And a friend.

I am a perfect fit for helping individuals. I can relate at times to how they are feeling when going through or have gone through a traumatic life change. Whether it be a short term or long term prognosis. I feel this is the most important quality in caregiving. Who wouldn't want someone to understand them for them and not look at them as if they are a patient but rather a true person. What attracts me to doing this type of work is how someone can be so thankful for what we do for them even if it is to just pick up a piece of paper off the floor. The most smallest things matter the most and to see them smile as if I made their whole day better makes my day 20 times better. I look forward to going into work and doing all that I can for all the people I have taken care of for almost the last four years. My biggest achievement in this particular job is having my loved ones thank me for the job I do for them, but I remind them it's more my pleasure than theirs.

The reason why I started caregiving is my mother. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 21. Being her son I had to do a lot more than the average kid; the more time passed the worse she got first her hands lost feeling than her legs eventually gave out, she couldn't remember events or simple things like memories of being with me. Thankfully I was able to go to college and graduate. Eventually, I decided to get into the field of direct service providing and really enjoyed helping people. I look at it as more than a job its a chance to help people like my mother.

As my mother's primary caregiver I have found that "pop-in" visits in the middle of the night, not only make me feel better about her care, but, she knows that, at any time, I will be there between 1 & 8 a.m. I can be there for your loved one as well!

I am a very caring person who has an excellent work ethic, pays attention to detail, can multitask well, keeps calm in stressful situations, and a very good listener. I work in a pharmacy currently and really try to build a relationship as much as I can with patients, but I would love to do a lot more. I will care for people at their home to really build a relationship and be a companion to someone who might be lonely. I am starting school at Johnson county community college to become a registered nurse and start my cna certification in October of this year. I would love to build homecare experience this way!

I am a mother of four children and a Veteran of the US military. My Army experience as a field medic gave me knowledge of basic and Advanced patient care. I was stationed with a 200 bed EVAC hospital similar to MASH. I also worked as an Orthopedic assistant for several years and worked as a medical assistant and phlebotomist for a family practice for 3 years. I started in the home health field because my kids are about grown and as we all age I know the need is big to find above average care givers. I work because I want to and have the compassion for people and life.
