What makes me a great caregiver to me are I will go above and beyond for my residents a are whomever I work for. I am a perfectionist down to the last detail. What 1st attracted me to being a caregiver was my Grandmother she was an LPN up until her 2nd Surgery and was very proud of beinging an LPN. What solidified my beinging a caregiver are a CNA was my oldest son which put me in the role early on of becoming a caregiver He was had to have several surgeries do to a rare Gastrointestinal situation which caused him to be on An IV at all times, a feeding tube and a colostomy Bag for while but not anymore he is 16 now and will be celebrating 17 years of life in 6 month with none of the above. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is simply just the pure love of being able to help someone out period. Being able to see my 1st patient my oldest son see 16 and knowing it was partly my aiding in his care that got him to this milestone in his life is my personal achievement.

Family is most important to me and I understand how important it is to have a caring, loving person taking care of loved ones. I have cared for family members on a long term basis. One had a heart attack then a stroke and needed complete care for over 3 years. Another has cancer and needed care for over a year. I always approach my responsibilities with care and compassion, remembering to treat other as I would like to be treated.

I am a outgoing, careing, and organized person. What attracted me to caregiving is majority of my family is in healthcare and so I have always been around know when and how to care for people. I enjoy just being there for someone that is in need of anything and them feeling like someone cares. Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I am 27 years old. I currently am attending Metropolitan Community College maintaining a 4.0, working towards my Associates in Arts of Teaching with an emphasis in Special Education. Once I have graduated with this degree I will apply as an Educational Assistant to gain experience and learn the various teaching methods throughout the classrooms. While doing this I will continue working towards my Bachelors in Elementary Educational focusing on Special Education. My ultimate end goal is to earn my Masters in Counseling concentrating in Play Therapy to help the special population progress in their academic and life skills. I offer so much compassion and care toward each and every life. I feel that everyone should be able to experience the most fulfilling life no matter what endeavors they are facing. Sometimes our physical and mental capabilities deteriorate due to surgeries, age, genetics and many other reasons. If in life when we come across these struggles we should never be discouraged, degraded or insulted for this. We can turn these events in life into strengthening activities. We can develop these hard times into positive times. I am a mother of a 6 year old bright and beautiful daughter. I do work 36 hours a week at a Roofing company Maintaining there books and records among many other tasks as well as take 9 credit hours of classes at MCC Maple Woods. I am looking to become a Caregiver for someone possibly overnights on the weekends, or any weekend hours. However I am open to the discussion of any available work. I am looking to be a caregiver to continue using my skills with assisting and aiding in growth and development. I do have a full schedule, but please do not let that deter you as I am very dedicated and goal oriented.

I have always been a caring and compassionate person. I started my medical career as an army medic. I then became a paramedic and have continued to help people of all ages and medical conditions in many different settings. As a registered nurse I have been able to continue to provide care in the emergency room, long term care facility and urgent care. I love to meet new people. I find that most people can find something in common to talk about. I am very proud of my son, and enjoy living close to family.

I started care giving early in life. I helped my grandmother who stuffed from diabetes & myasthenia gravis. I learned at a very young age how important is it to have someone caring & loving in your life. After my grandmother died I continued to care for my family members & as a income for my family. The first time I began to consider the nursing field as a future career choice was in 2004. I was 8 years old when I swam with my aunt Rose in their private pool and she had a seizure. I was able to recall basic knowledge about seizures taught from my two aunts who were nurses. I set a spoon inside of a towel and placed it in her mouth. I then yelled to her son, my cousin, "Call 911!" At that moment I was performing a cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It was the longest five minutes I have dealt with; it felt like an eternity. From that day onward, I wanted to make a difference by helping people to the best of my abilities. I am thankful that my other two aunts were nurses, and that they had taught me some basic medical knowledge which I was able to use to save my Aunt's life. I was born and raised in the Philippines and had moved to the United States on October 4th, 2009 to be with my mother and grandmother. Growing up, my family members would always describe me as a person that tries their best in everything they do, whether it is school, family, or my job. No matter how hard the obstacles are, I aim for success. I supported myself financially after high school with daily needs and college school expenses by working full time and signing up for extra shifts. In March 2014 to March 3, 2016, I worked 16 hour shifts, 2 days in a row every weekend at Garden Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. When I did not have classes in the morning, on the weekdays I would work 8 hour shifts in the afternoon or night and vice versa if I had school in the afternoon. In doing so, I was able to pay for my car, insurance, necessities, school, and help my grandmother. I love helping other help other individuals medically, emotionally, and spiritually by providing the best patient care with all of my heart.

I have always found myself happiest when in service of others. I served in the USMC 2001-2005, and after an Honorable Discharge, I have worked with several Emergency Medical Providers, to include Hospital and Fire Departments. I am well versed with Emergency procedures, but also the finer, personable and more gentle aspects of health care. I am very outgoing, and can strike up conversation with all ages in a respectful manner. In my 10+ years in an ambulance, I have found that easing ones worries with reassurance, and joyful conversation is the best way to alleviate a lot stress...and stress is a major role player in many patient symptoms. I have a knack for feeling out the personality/background of a person, and adapting my actions and communication to have a more productive relationship. I am married with 4 beautiful children, and my Wife is also in the healthcare field. We go to a small town Church, and live in a somewhat rural area. I also have 7 years as a skilled tradesman, so I am no stranger to fixing/repairing small to large projects, if they were to be encountered. My experience as a Father and Firefighter has given me skills in the kitchen preparing meals of all kinds. I am capable of lifting and moving large people with proper/safe techniques. I can relax with the best of them (reading aloud, watching TV, board games, chatting), but am able to be active for long periods of time without fatigue. My wife and I have both been the "go-to" people in our family for our Elders, as we have played an active role in their care-taking during their final years. My experience in the Emergency setting has given me instinct to interpret peoples signs and symptoms before they turn dire. If anything were to happen while I am a caregiver, I know exactly what to do while awaiting additional help. I have never been reprimanded or fired from any job.

I became a caregiver when my grandfather had a stroke and I desired to provide better care for seniors than he received. I am a mother of four older children and I am very organized and creative in caregiving. I am currently a nursing student working toward becoming as Registered Nurse. I have more experience with medications, surgical complications, ADLs, physical assessment, and emergency care than a CNA, but I still have the compassion of a one on one caregiver because I started out as a CNA.

I decided to become a caregiver to give people the independence to be in their home. I took care of my mother a quadriplegic for 2 years and she was so happy to be at home with her family. A proud achievement of mine was when I received my Missouri CNA so that I could continue to help others to realize that dream of being with their families as long as possible.
