What makes me a great caregiver is my ability to empathize and understand just about anyone. I have always loved helping people so to be able to do that everyday is very rewarding. I am compassionate, kind, paitent and very reliable. I've always been a giving person and caring for those in need of care and support is a passion of mine! It's not work when you love what you do! I love making a difference in people's life. I was born to do this.

What I attracted me to being a caregiver is the fact I have always wanted to work in the medical field just not knowing what I wanted to do exactly but becoming a caregiver made me want to become a nurse. I enjoy most about caregiving is making clients day making them smile treating them not different than anyone else & giving them something to look forward to everyday! I started by helping my grandparents with special medical conditions as well taking care of my mother (3 years ago) with cancer until the end. Hi! My name is Matilde and I'm originally from the Philippines where I worked as an Emergency Room Assistant while attending college. A few years later, I got married and moved with my husband to the United States where I continued my education and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for about 12 years. I love caring for seniors in particular because in the Philippines that is very much a part of our culture. We deeply respect and care about the elders in our family and community there and I try to do the same here.

I started doing home healthcare when I was 18 and fell in love with it. However, I entered into another field and stayed until I took an early retirement. I now currently have my CNA II and looking for more home caregiver opportunities. I have seen how much better senior live when they are able to stay home as opposed to nursing facilities. They are comfortable in their own environment and thrive when given personal care.

I first became a care giver in 2018 and did all the training at my community college. I worked at carteret Landing to get some experience and now I'm looking for a home care position to help out families. I worked in a memory care unit and have experience with all types of elderly, some had dementia, schizophrenia, anything else you name it. When I first moved to NC., in 2004, I worked as an in home caregiver. In spite of, at the time, my thick New York accent and my 94 year old proper Southern "lady" quickly overcame these obstacles and we became fast friends. My duties included bathing, cooking, feeding, laundry and light housekeeping. I documented and administered her medications and took her vitals four times a day. Sadly Mrs. Rue passed away in 2011 and I went into the restaurant business. It wasn't until recently that I realized how rewarding and just how much I missed the home health field.
