I have been in the Care Giving Industry for the last 6 and a half years. I have worked with Agencies, Nursing Homes, RCFEs ( known as 6-bed facilities), Hospice and Private care, and live-in as well. I am a good listener, patient, attentive compassionate, dependable, and trustworthy. I love to laugh, I respect others and their property and I take initiative in situations, I work well with everyone. Hello I'm Shaniah Mosley The personality traits that make me a great caregiver are being able to be dependable, caring, and always putting the client first. What attracted me to become a caregiver is being able to have the opportunity to work with people and be able to care for people since that's what career I'm getting into is nursing. What I enjoy the most about being a caregiver is being able to make people smile and being able to care for people.

At the age of 14 while attending high school in my home country Jamaica, my grandfather had several strokes. He was paralyzed on the right side. I had to wear two hats during that period. I was a student and I became one of his untrained home care providers. I would give him bed baths and feed him in the mornings before school and the same was done during the afternoon after school. I did this for three years before he passed away. I was a very kind jovial and compassionate but caring for him boosted these character traits. I made him as comfortable as possible and gave the best care I could. With all the knowledge that I have from the school I've attended to become a CHHA I now know that I gave him care that would've been approved by my supervisor if had one at the time. I loved caring for him because I knew the man he was and how he must feel not being able to do for himself as he would normally do. That's the mindset I take when caring for my clients. I see them as who they are and were; when they were able to. I use every opportunity as a learning or teachable moment. I love working with the elderly for several reasons- you learn great deal from them as they have amazing stories and facts, we're relatable as I'm an old soul- but the main reason is that Im loved by them. Maybe it's because I smile a great deal and laugh at some of the silliest thing or my kind spirit. I've have been working as a CHHA for over three years and all the individuals I've had the opportunity to work with adored me.

I've been an HHA for over 9 years. I recently became and EMT and I've been doing that for a year, so I do have BLS training and I'm also CPR certified. Over the past 9 years I've worked with bed ridden patients, incontinent patients, patients with hoyer lifts, patients wheel chair bound, etc. I also do light housekeeping, laundry (for patient) and I can cook a meal if the patients desire. I am very fun loving and caring. Very understanding also. I became a caregiver because I liked the idea of helping others who can somewhat help themselves or can't at all and because I also want to be an RN (with my BSN) in the near future. I enjoy seeing my patients happy and having independence with a little help. I am proud of being the Aide I am today and also the person I will be tomorrow. I am also a nursing student and fully vaccinated against Covid.
