I am a very organized, outgoing, caring person. I'm also very clean and live to cook. I've always enjoyed taking care of people that need to be taken care of. I enjoy making life a little easier for others. I took care of a lady in a wheelchair in the past and I motivated her to want to try to walk using her walker of course. She may have only taken 4-5 steps but the look in her face was priceless and that made me so very happy.

I first became a caregiver to assist my father who had 6 strokes. I decided to continue my degree in healthcare as an HHA. I also have been a certified Nurse Aide for about 15 yrs, and have a degree as a medical assistant.

I became a caregiver because I love helping people what also helped me choose this career was I took care of my grandfather till his last breath, the thing I had to do for him and the help he needed made me think about other people and the help they might need also. I love to put a smile on people faces, nothing like giving an helping hand or being that persons ear or even family for that moment. I'm most proud of going to school to getting my Associates Degree and becoming and Medical Assistant it was a great experience for me just being able to further my education in the health field. I've been a in the health for about 10 years and one day hope to open my own home health service.

I became a caregiver because I have always wanted to help others. I enjoy being a caregiver because it allows for the client to receive not only outstanding care but someone that they can possibly see as a friend that they can rely on for help. MY PARENTS HAD ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES AS I WAS GROWING UP. I ENJOYED HELPING THE SENIORS WITH PUZZLES AND CRAFTS, ETC. LATER I BECAME A TEACHER WHO TAUGHT HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE AND SEMINARY FOR OVER 15 YEARS. AT THAT POINT, I RETIRED FROM TEACHING AND OPENED TWO ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES OF MY OWN. ONE WAS NAMED E.T. SLOAN HOME, WHERE TODDLERS WERE INCORPORATED TO THE DAILY ACTIVITIES OF THE ELDERS, THUS E. FOR ELDER AND T. FOR TODDLER. E.T. SLOAN HOME AND SLOAN HOME II. I WAS THE ADMINISTRATOR, COOK, CLEANER, APPOINTMENT SETTER, COMPANION, SINGER/PIANO PLAYER, DEVOTIONAL LEADER, ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR, ETC. I ENJOYED EVERY SECOND UNTIL MY MOTHER DIED AND IN 2008, I SOLD THE BUSINESSES. MY RESIDENTS WERE ALLOWED TO "AGE IN PLACE", SO THEY USUALLY REMAINED THERE UNTIL THEY CHANGED THEIR ADDRESSES TO HEAVEN. WHEN THAT TIME CAME, I WOULD GET MY BLANKET AND PILLOW AND STAY WITH THEM, SINGING THEIR FAVORITE SONG AS THEY PEACEFULLY PASSED ON. ONE LADY, VIRGINIA LIVED IN E.T. SLOAN HOME FOR 14 YEARS. I USED TO SING IN HOTELS AT/AROUND DISNEY AND HAD A LOT OF FANCY GOWNS, DRESSES AND HATS. I WOULD DRESS THE LADIES IN MY GOWNS AND HATS, RENT A LIMOUSINE AND WE WOULD GO OUT ON THE TOWN DINING AND DANCING. I SERVED ORGANIC FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND THE FINEST MEATS, POULTRY AND FISH, BELIEVING THAT AROUND THE TABLE WAS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE LIFE. I MISS CAREGIVING.

I have been taking care of the family members and the elderly for over 40 yrs. I am very knowledgeable of Hospice Care, Parkinson, Alzheimer, Dementia, end of life care, peg tube, catheter care, hoyer lift, medication reminder, personal care, home cleaning. I am very dependable. I am most proud of looking into a families eyes, knowing that their loved ones are in good hands. Helping someone go to the other side peacefully. I love what I do, this is my passion, not for the money. I took care of my mother and 2 of her brothers till the end, everyone dying in my arms. I have very tough skin, for which you need in this field because of the client as well as it's family members. I always take that extra step to help in any way I can.

Hi I'm Erick, 24, been in okc about 3 years now , reason why I move so can live with my grandma and provide care and assist her, due to diabetes and lost both legs. I enjoy meeting new ppl and making others happy and give respect for others. I'm also going to college for x ray technology/ medical assistant. I think me being a caregiver would be best path for me, I'm proud myself to get chance go back to school. I can cook, clean, lift, drive. But most of all , I will care for your love ones in need.

I'm a great caregiver because I am empathetic and sympathetic yet firm. I believe being a mother has given great balance in how I care for others. I'm 30 years old. I have a licensed therapy dog who i voluinteer with presently at a nursing home in Norman. I really do have a heart for our seniors. I serve at my church every Sunday.
