I became a caregiver to help the elderly in 2003. my great grandmother got sick when i was in highschool and everyday after school i would go sit with her help with bathing and feeding her because she was very close to me. I took care of her until she passed ever since then i promised her and myself to help the elderly as much as i possibly can. I recieved my cna license while attending high school and proud to say i did. My top propriety is the patients care and i will provide dependable, standard and direct care the way it should be with compassion. I graduated from lvn school and plan to return soon to become an registered nurse.

What makes me a great caregiver? I'm naturally tenacious, curious, and have always had an interest in healthcare. I became a companion/personal assistant as a favor to a friend, and for extra income. I transitioned to my caregiver role as my client declined, and needed physical as well as memory care. I learned on the job and via research. I am extremely proud to have won over my last client, as she had trust and control issues. We began as employer/employee, and ended as close friends. I was with her throughout her steady decline, and at her bedside when she passed.

I am very compassionate when it comes to caring for patients and the elderly. It is very important to me to treat them as if they were my family. My first job I worked with Alzheimer's and dementia residents. I worked extremely well with combative and disoriented patients. Being able to help care for someone who can not do so on their own is extremely important to me. My mother passed away from cancer and while she was ill I could not imagine her being treated poorly. I treat every resident/patient with the care I expected my mother to receive.
