I became a caregiver Right after my grandfather passed away. He was on hospice for months and I took care of him until his very last breath. I enjoyed being able to take care of him that it made me want to help others. Knowing you helped someone with their day is the best satisfaction you could get. I'm a private duty aid and worked at sacred heart assisted living for a few years so it was great getting to know my residents and hearing the stories they had to share. You could always learn something new. I pride in myself knowing I helped make someone's day better. I am certified by the state to distribute medicine and have done AM and PM care which includes bathing dressing distributing medication feeding etc.

My names Martisha, but many call me T. I am very caring and loving, I love the company of others and being there for others. I am very patient and helpful when needed and am also good at assisting while not taking over. I have been attracted to care giving because my step-grandpa was diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was a teenager. I spent many days of my summer that year assisting his hospice caregiver and I really admired all she did for our family to make his last days with us easier, so much so that I've wanted to help in the same way she did. The part I would love the most about care giving is getting to make their lives just a little easier with daily tasks as well as being able to give them a companionship or friendship that they can rely on when times aren't the best. A personal achievement I am very proud of is when I finished my associates degree on my own, this was very challenging for me because I have been supporting myself through college and at times I didn't think I would ever achieve at least my associates and I did and am that much closer to becoming a Radiologist!

I'm a great caregiver thanks to my experience of caregiving. Each resident I treat with up most respect of course, but I treat them as if that was my family member in such predicament. This form of caregiving is just a start. My ultimate goal is to work as a Nurse Practitioner in the E.R. I'm currently in school obtaining that goal. I like being a caregiver because to me I feel that I'm giving back to someone in need help or assist them with things they may not be able to do. My proudest achievement in fact in getting my CNA certificate because I felt this is my foot in the door... I have a long way to go but this is a great start.

Hello, I'm Marilynn. The reason I became a caregiver is because the person I love dearly became ill and blind, that person is my mother. She is became legally blind due to diabetes, then after losing her kidneys. She has been blind for 9 years along with dialysis. I take care of her and love my job. I do daily duties such as making her meals,giving her medication, showering her,preparing her clothes, driving her to appointments and dialysis. I am willing to help and care for anyone who needs it.
