Hugh and Donna Scott

Hugh has early Alzheimer's and is still fully functional. But because of his severe short term memory impairment, he needs constant supervision and company for his own safety. I am with him all day and another caregiver comes in the evening to take over. Aside from the usual caregiving activities, I also help him with his correspondence and schedules and appointments. I coordinate with his Bookeeper for his financial needs and bills. I also accompany him on his trips to the east coast to visit family and friends. Currently (2019) he has started to deteriorate mentally and physically.

Peter and Barbara Macgowan

I take care of Peter who has Parkinson's and Dementia. He is wheel-chair bound and so I do transfers, change him, bathe him, prepare his meals and do laundry, drive him to appointments and bring him to the dog-park almost everyday. Barbara his wife is ambulatory and can pretty much take care of herself although I cook and clean the house and do the laundry for both of them. I also pay their bills and help them with their banking and correspondence. Peter has since passed away in August 2013 and since then I am now taking care of his widow, Barbara. Barbara has passed away.

I am a very caring person and caretaking or elders comes very natural to me. I treat each individual the way I would like to be treated. I left my job 6 years ago with AT&T as a Senior Project Manager to take care of my wife w/cancer and daughter with systemic lupus. I know what it is like being sick and depending on others to get you through the day. I tried to get back to work but having been out of work for 6 years and over 50 its been almost impossible.
