My career was in business. I retired at a young age. I went into the health care industry from a suggestion of a relative who worked at a large local hospital. I worked there for 6 years and cared for hundreds of patients each having different illnesses. This background caused me to decide I would like to become an independent provider due to my experience. I particularly enjoy caring for elderly men with dementia. What I've found is their long term memories are interesting and have heard interesting stories especially from WWll veterans. I try to become "part of the family" with each patient. I try my best to help each patient maintain their dignity, be comforting, gain their confidence provide friendship and assure a safe environment. In all my past working experiences caregiving is my most satisfying.
I became a caregiver at a young age by request but as I got older it was done by choice. Caring for the elderly gives me satisfaction knowing that I can help people in a personal way. I love making people laugh. It's my way of adding sunshine to their lives. Several seniors I have cared for were not excited at all about having someone to come in to sit and to care for them but it took a short while for them to look forward to my arrival and they hated to see me leave. I have cared for people of all age groups. I have worked exclusively for the elderly the past few years. I have been a great companion to them all! I'm very caring, I work long hours if needed and I'm willing to do just about whatever it takes for those in my care to have a very meaningful experience! I do med reminders, incontinence care, meal preparations, and to stay busy, I will clean! I love what I do and have always done more than what was asked. My main objective with care is to help the family members of those in my care feel they can live their lives without worrying about their loved one in my care. They can feel confident that their loved one is in good hands! Those I have experience with had Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and I have cared for a quadriplegic! I'm confident I can meet your care needs! Thank you for reading!
I am a very nuturing type of caregiver whom is looking for full or part-time work. Depending on my schedule I can do on call if you need for a shift to be covered. If you contact me to cover a shift on the same day please give me an hour notice if less than 25 miles away and 2 hour notice if 50 or more miles away. Thank you, I look forward to assisting your loved one with getting their needs met.
I feel that I am a great caregiver because I am patient, understanding, a great listener, compassionate, and very caring. I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated. I am a positive person, I love to smile, and laugh. I am also trustworthy, supportive, and encouraging. When I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer (Stage 5) 6 years ago, my one and only Caregiver by the name of Barbara, was the absolute best. She took very good care of me, and was such a joy to have around. One day I told her that when I get better, I was going to become a Caregiver too because she was such an inspiration and blessing to me and my family. I am a natural born nurturer, and I love taking care of people. It gives me such a fulfillment in my spirit to know that I did something that day to make someone's life a little easier. I am proud of the fact that I was able to complete my courses to become a Certified Nurses Assistant 2 years ago, and I plan to go back to become State Tested to enhance my skills and knowledge in this particular field.

I have been a caregiver over 20 years (long term, rehab, old timers unit patients, and etc). I care about the elderly and people that need help and cannot help themselves. Having parents that died in their 60's from cancer it was nice having the experience to be able to take care of them from their homes. Have done homecare over 5 years and really enjoyed working with the family's.

When it comes down to what separates the caregivers from the great caregivers there are some marked traits and work habits that stand out. Those who have experienced a great caregiver could make a list of what makes them great and sets them apart from the crowd. I have 7 years of experience Love what I do. I really love engaging new clients! I'm highly energetic and always willing to learn. I have always enjoyed older people, they have so much to share. I recently went from being a housekeeper for 10 years to becoming a full-time caregiver when my client was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. It was the hardest thing I've ever done and it was the best. My sweet client recently had to go to a memory care unit and I realized how well suited to this type of work I am. I'm very compassionate, adaptable and completely dependable. I also have experience with Parkinson's. Don't let my age fool you, I'm healthy and strong and can transfer and help with mobility. I have a wide range of skills and experience that make me uniquely qualified for this type of work.
