I became a caregiver after a family friend asked me to become a caretaker for her brother in 2015. That was a major blessing that has taken me on a different path in life. I worked with him for two years until he was moved to an adult family home, then I worked at an assisted living facility, and am now working as a home care aide with an agency. I enjoy working with people and being of help to others. I have worked with clients from all age groups but I particularly enjoy working with the older population because of their life experiences and wealth of wisdom. I recently completed my pre-requisites for the nursing program at Bellevue College. My goal is to become a nurse so that I can help people to a greater degree.
I became a caregiver while taking care of a close relative and decided to make a career out of it. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others, especially when you can put a smile on their face. One of the greatest personal achievement I'm proud of are my kids. I was raised by my grandmother and i saw the great love she had for me. This motivated me to love and take care of seniors. Hello, my name is Elisa My caregiving started in 1995 , as my Mother became ill and I knew she would want a high level of in home care that I would personally be able to provide. As her illness became more extreme, it was important to me that she be able to stay in her home were she would be more comfortable. A few time a week turned into every day, then several hours a day. My Mothers wishes to be at home in her time of need was fulfilled . And it was a blessing and a honor to be there for her. I found myself wanting to give other families the same opportunity my Mother was given. I continued working closely with other families and also the IHSS of King Co. from 1995 till 2001.Then in California in Contra Costa Co. From 2002 - 2009 then I returned back to Washington State where I have continued my work with families.
