What attracted me the most about this profession was how much joy and comfort I could bring into the lives of others. To see the patients I'm caring for happy and feeling cared for is truly an amazing feeling. The joy that you get from making someone else happy is truly irreplaceable. This is why I love doing what I do.
I worked @ Richmond public schools health services for 17.5 years. that included working and running a school clinic for students and staff. Iv'e also worked in a memory support unit for elderly adults suffering with dementia for 5 years. I am currently a cna for Arlington publics schools. I enjoy working with children and the elderly because they need extra support and help. I also have experience working with psychiatric patients in the hospital
I am patient, caring, empathy, loving and pay attention to details concerning the privacy of my client. Being a compassionate person attracted my to being a caregiver. When my client is satisfied with my job and has a smile on her/his face. When my client was on her dead bed and her last request was to see her angel and hug her for the last time. When she was asked who the angel is, she said is Jane. As soon as I walked in her room, my client gave me a big hug and a smile, and she said, that's my angel, take care of her.
Care giving is a selfless responsibility for every person giving care to clients and vulnerable people. I always believe that empathy is one of the most significant quality anyone can acquire to be a good caregiver. Before this time, I have worked with different forms of people with different cultures, and most of this people are vulnerable people that needs the attention of people who will show them love care and support them for their basic needs. For that reason, I have been a wonderful and loving caregiver who seeks the interest and comfort of my clients to make them happy and improves their dignity of life. I have special love for vulnerable and hopeless people, and would always wanted to improve the lives of my clients to make them feel like somebody cares despite what they are going through. Improving client lives and happiness is my priority to achieve my goal as a caregiver. When given the opportunity to be employed, I can give appreciation notes and letters from past clients relatives which I am proud of as a caregiver, a loving companion and a friend to the vulnerable.
Some people ask me, "why are you a caregiver?" I smile and simply respond, "I care to care." Caring for others has not only created an occupation for me, but also a way of life. Waking up in the morning and knowing that I am on my way to make someone feel better, either by assisting with daily living activities, by listening, or by telling jokes that make a client smile, makes me feel a great sense of accomplishment and joy. I have been a caregiver for over six years and have never had a dull day since I began. Each day provides me with an opportunity to make a positive impact on someone, and I cannot think of anything more rewarding. I am an empathetic, forthright, punctual, honest, and patient individual who maintains professionalism at all times. I believe that these fundamental characteristics put me on level ground with the clients I have cared for throughout the years, and with their families and loved ones. Since childhood I have wanted to make a difference in people's lives, and being a caregiver I can make an impact that goes above and beyond that goal.
