As a former public school teacher, agency staff member and school administrator, I have had the opportunity to serve families in many capacities. As a child of a parent with Alzheimer's, I have care-giving experience. Additionally, with a psychology degree, I have had the opportunity to apply strategies and best practices in working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors. My special education background allows me to understand how to work with PT and OT needs. Recently, I cared for a gentlemen in his home fulltime through Right At Home agency. He just transitioned to memory care. I received caregiver of the month recently. My service at Home Instead allowed me many great experiences with clients from various backgrounds and needs. I was awarded Caregiver of the Quarter by the agency Dec. 2018. It was an honor and especially when it was my pleasure to serve them.

I am a loving, compassionate caregiver, who believes in providing the highest degree of quality care and service to patients in their homes, assisted living, memory care, Hospice or other types of facilities; and am seeking the opportunity to give back to our elderly, the respect and caring they deserve.
The thing I enjoy most about caring for others is the blessing I receive from the patients. I think the Lord has called me to this type of work so that He, in working through me, shares the comfort, peace and love, that only He can give.
I have discovered in working with the terminally ill or those in Hospice, that they end of blessing me far more as I learn about their background, family, spiritual beliefs -- they become my family.
One of my most precious moments, was being with a sweet lady who was at the end of life. As the CD's played soft music of old hymns and after praying and reading scripture to her for several days; I experienced her smile and hand on my cheek, just before the angels escorted her from this world into Glory.

I worked in property management for over 15 years and then I moved to Texas with my husband and children. I stayed home for a year or so until we acclimated to our new environment with our blended family. After that time I found a job at Sunrise Senior Living. I worked there for a year and a half and without hesitation I can tell you that I have never felt so honored to do what I did during that time. The only reason I am still not working there is because our financial circumstances were changing and my brother-in-law needed help so I couldn't refuse. I still volunteer there because I built very strong, loving relationships with the residents and resident families. I am only doing this because I would be honored to care for someone again on a limited basis because of my current job situation, but I know that my heart is still caring for the elderly, especially those with memory loss. I hope to find a family that is willing to let me help out on a limited basis, but I am willing to make the time during the week as needed.
