Being a caregiver is not an easy task, no matter the needs or level of dependence of the individual receiving care. While taking care of one's own personal needs is more or less automatic most of the time, switching gears and caring for someone else is not. Putting someone else's needs before yours isn't always easy or fun, but coupled with the knowledge that you made someone's life easier and better, can be incredibly rewarding.
I am a patient, calm person and I like people. I was a volunteer, (Henry Ford Hospice 3 years). Personal caregiver for my mother (1 year), volunteer with Lighthouse Hospice, Employee at Lighthouse Hospice (3 years). I enjoy helping clients be their most productive selves with dignity. I am a very friendly, lively, and kind person! I love to talk and laugh and would definitely make sure that your loved one got all that they needed. I am young and strong and can help lift, carry, and do any manual labor needed. I have a lot of experience in this field and have helped many different families with their loved ones. If you teach me your system, how you like things done, what needs to be done, ect. I will absolutely do my best to do everything and anything needed. I will definitely try to go above and beyond what you require and will above all else, make sure that the needs of your loved one are being met. I started caregiving about 4 years ago with my sister. She took me along to visit her elderly patients and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved having the ability to make those who found themselves in a darkness, smile and laugh. I love bringing joy and making others feel comfortable. Also, having the ability to help out a family, to make their lives easier, means so much. Knowing that I am helping you out, if only a tiny bit, makes my day. I will feed, and cook, and clean, and transport and do all else that your loved one needs. I just want to make them feel comfortable and loved.
Hi! I am an Occupational Therapist Assistant (Retired) with over 20 years of experience. I've served a broad spectrum of clients, working in schools with children, in the hospitals with psychiatric patients and those with physical dysfunctions, as well as caring for geriatric patients in nursing homes or their own homes. I cared for my grandma, dad and mom before they all went home to be with the Lord. For me this is not just an occupation but my vocation.
I am a great caregiver because of the way I'm able to relate to people of any kind, the old, the young, disabled, and the mentally ill. There is a spirit that I possess that draws people to feel comfortable around me . I became a caregiver because I grew up around a lot of older relative and once they became sickly I was there to take care of them, and my greatest accomplishment is to volunteer in the Hospice program for Baylor Scott and White when I first came to Texas and was able to relieve the families of some to the burden of their loved ones by giving them time to take care of themselves and other family members.
