I will soon be graduating college, and am looking for a job that I will enjoy doing between the time I graduate, and attend graduate school to become an Occupational Therapist. I believe becoming a caregiver is the perfect job for me at this time, because I enjoy getting to work individually with patients, and caring for them, while also enabling them to have a better quality of life. I am very passionate about people and think that a job as a caregiver will allow me to use my skills and personality for the better. As I do not have any previous experience as a caregiver, I have gained a variety of skills and knowledge through my observation hours and undergraduate studies that I believe will enable me to provide excellent care to you or your loved ones.
I have been working as a Nurse Aide for about four months. I completed my training, and am waiting on the results of my state test for my CNA license. When you become a CNA, it gives you the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of people, which is something I've always wanted to do. The job can be very demanding, but it is also very rewarding. The relationships you build with your patients are like no other, and it is a good feeling when you can help your patients feel better. I first thought about becoming a CNA when my grandfather was diagnosed with a terminal illness similar to Parkinson's. Hospice came into our home to care for him when it became too much for us to handle on our own. They were very helpful, and provided him with not only care, but also companionship. Seeing the difference that they made not only for my grandfather, but also for me and the rest of my family, that is what made me want to get into healthcare. I believe that is what makes me a great caregiver. I think about each of my patients as if they are my own family. And if they were, I would want only the best care for them. That is why I always strive to do the absolute best I can to care for my patients.
I've always been told that I smile too much. I'm really proud that I smile too much because it brightens up my patients day. Sometimes they need to see a smile to know everything is going to be ok. I love being a caregiver because I get to help someone. it brings me joy to know that I'm helping someone who appreciates it. Working in both hospitals and nursing centers has shown me two different worlds to healthcare. I have really learned a lot from both. I've learned to noticed signs a lot sooner when something is going on with a patient/resident. I've learned to read people a lot faster on who they are or how they like things done. It really does make a difference when you know what to look for. That's why I wanted to be a caregiver and eventually make my way to becoming a Registered Nurse.
Im a very happy person and hardly ever in a foul mood. I love to be around people and make thier day better either with a smile or a laugh. I got intrested in health care when my own father got sick and need care, we werent able to afford in home care so we made it work but he took a turn for the worse and couldn't help any longer. I wanted to help others as much i could.
I enjoy working with seniors i have over 10 years experience and worked with all kinds of clients. I treat my clients as they were my family . I want all their needs to be taken care of and want them to be comfortable. I chose to be a caregiver because i learned early on at a early age from taking care of family members and loved it from then on.
I am caring towards my profession. I have been doing this job for quite a while and the most rewarding part is probably the patients. Initially, I was not interested in the thought of being a caregiver until a family member of mine became disabled. I was the first one to start taking care of her and I fell in love with the job. One achievement that I am proud of is the fact that the last patient I had is now able to walk on her own. Previously, she was confined to her wheelchair but now she is very active.
