Need a patient, compassionate, and dependable caregiver located near Washington, DC to help care for my Father. I need support Monday overnight, Tuesday overnight, Wednesday overnight, Thursday overnight, Friday overnight, Saturday overnight, and Sunday overnight. 56 hours per week (11p-7a). Needed to start October 13, 2024. My father was recently diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and is recovering at Bridgepoint Hospital Capitol Hill in their long-term acute care facility. He is mostly paralyzed but slowly regaining strength. The GBS has affected his face, so he cannot see, speak, or breathe on his own yet. He currently has a trach and feeding tube. He communicates with subtle head nods and hand gestures to express his needs. We are with him 24/7 to be his voice and ensure his comfort during recovery. We’re seeking support for the overnight shift (11 PM-7 AM). This shift is generally quiet, as my father sleeps most of the time. He may occasionally wake and request assistance moving his arms or legs due to aches from being in a hospital bed for over 6 weeks. While the nursing staff monitors him and turns him every 2 hours, the caregiver's role would focus on keeping him comfortable—adjusting his blankets, managing his temperature, and moving his limbs if he experiences cramps. Your help would mean a lot to us. Only serious applicants will be considered.
