Compassionate Caregiver Needed for Mother with Alzheimer's - West LA/Santa Monica Seeking experienced, patient caregiver for my 83-year-old mother with Alzheimer's. Approximately 24 hours/week (4 hours daily, 6 days), flexible based on her needs. Required Experience: Prior Alzheimer's/dementia care strongly preferred Patient with confusion, repetition, and challenging moments Able to build trust with seniors initially resistant to help Comfortable providing repeated reminders without frustration Responsibilities: Companionship and engagement (conversation, photos, reading, activities) Meal prep and medication reminders Personal care prompting (gentle reminders to bathe, change clothes - she's independent but needs encouragement) Light housekeeping, laundry, dishes Transportation to appointments, restaurants, errands Safety supervision and encouraging walks/exercise Shopping and prescription pickup Keep family informed of changes Requirements: Reliable, punctual, compassionate Excellent communication skills Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle Comfortable with Alzheimer's unpredictability References from previous families I need someone who will treat my mother with dignity and respect, understanding that building trust takes time.
