I was raised by my aunt and uncle and they are both currently dealing with the early stages of dementia. My uncle began showing signs of vascular dementia in 2022. Our care needs changed greatly in July 2024 when my aunt fell, began suffering cognitive issues, and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We are fortunate that they are still their quirky selves and their medical needs are low. However, they can no longer drive, prepare adequate meals for themselves, or manage household chores. My uncle has urinary incontinence and often needs to be directed back to the bedroom during the night. We are looking for a few additional members of an amazing care team that works in 12 hour shifts from 8am-8pm and 8pm-8am, at $15 an hour. Although I spend some time assisting at their house daily, and make myself available for emergencies, I need a reliable presence to keep them safe and clean… maybe even happy!... when I’m not around.
