My father is 80 years old and had a fall in the hospital that has rendered him a quadriplegic. He is currently living in a skilled nursing facility because he requires 24-hour care. He needs to use a Hoyer lift to transfer, he has a catheter, he needs assistance in eating. He cannot dress himself or care for himself and needs turning and repositioning to prevent bed sores. As a family we would really love for him to be at home but currently have found it cost prohibitive. We are hoping that finding a caregiver or two or three that can spend long periods of time daily to help with his care could help us get him home. My mother lives in the home but she is 78 and has macular degeneration so she is unable to do any kind of caretaking. I would love the opportunity to speak with someone who is interested in this position to see if we are able to make this work.
