We’re a caring family seeking an experienced, compassionate weekend caregiver for our elderly father in Ozone Park, Queens. We need help for a few hours on weekends, with flexible arrival times to fit around other shifts. We can agree on hours together, with potential for additional days and hours if things go well. Dad is bedbound and has dementia. Our family is closely involved in his care, and we’re looking for someone kind, professional, and confident providing hands-on assistance. Responsibilities: * Occasional ostomy care assistance (we usually handle this) * Diaper changes, cleaning with bath wipes, gown changes, grooming, and occasional shaving * Helping us prepare meals and assisting with feeding * Turning and repositioning him safely in bed * Safely operating a Hoyer lift * Helping keep him clean and comfortable around a small pressure ulcer near his buttocks; our family handles its treatment. * Light housekeeping: taking out trash, vacuuming near his bed, and folding clothes. * Gentle companionship and communication with our family. Experience as a home health aide or caregiver is required, including hands-on care for bedbound individuals, dementia care, and Hoyer lift use. You should already be comfortable with the tasks listed, communicate comfortably in English, and be courteous, dependable, and respectful. Physical therapy or mobility-support experience is a plus. We’re working with his care team toward helping him sit up and eventually use a nearby chair safely. We’re happy to discuss higher pay for relevant PT training, certification, or professional experience. Please tell us about your experience and weekend availability. We’d love to hear from you!
