I am looking for a caregiver for my 93 year old Mom in the Houston Metro area (77007). She is recovering from a recent injury that left her weaker, now using a wheelchair and walker. Prior to the injury she was totally self sufficient. She needs a caregiver during this rehabilitation period to ensure that she does not fall when practicing with her walker, some dressing assistance, help with transferring to the commode (may need help pulling up pants..she does the rest herself). As she strengthens she will be able to do more for herself over the coming months but currently she is fall risk and needs assistance with all of the above tasks. This is expected to last several months. My Mom is pleasant and easy to get a long with. She likes friendly people but it is Ok not to be too talkative as she likes quiet time. She enjoys looking at her iPad and religious programs on television. She needs to get up at least once per hour to do some walking with the walker so it is important that the caregiver helps her and stands along side her throughout the walking and any transferring from wheelchair to walker , etc. . The biggest job is fall prevention. She is currently on blood thinners and this could be a serious injury if she were to fall and hit her head. She is hard of hearing but no dementia, she is very sharp. She can only eat soft foods due to not having good teeth. Meals will be ready and pre-prepared but it may require some heating in a microwave. She can feed herself without any issues. Hours needed would be Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 am -3 pm, Thursday and Friday from 9 am -1 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. We are open to finding two separate caregivers in the event that all days cannot be covered by one caregiver. Let me know if you are interested, your availability, and fee schedule.
