Hi my name is Dichanta Ramsey. I am 22 years old and currently a jr. in college, I attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham majoring in Social Work. I have also volunteered at UAB hospital sitting in with different patent who wanted company or just wanted to talk or read together , as well I cared for 2 of my aunts who both had cancer. After helping care for my aunt before she passed, I realized how many other elderly people really don't have anyone to really help them out. So I decided to start volunteering and helping more. I love to see people smile and happy. Also I have experience in food prep, cleaning, transportation, grooming.
I have always had a love for the elderly. Sitting and listening to their memories or playing a game of dominoes. I cared for my elderly father in law the last year+ of his life and know it helped extend his life with us. My own parents now live in assisted living while my mother lives out her last years with dementia. And I appreciate the care that they receive. So I know I can give quality care to your loved one as well.
I grew up knowing that I wanted to be like my idol, my grandmother, who was a RN. I knew when I was a candy striper in my teens that iI wanted to continue to take care of those who couldn't because of the feeling of helping a patient get better or die with dignity and not alone filled my soul with gratitude that I was given the opportunity to make a difference in their live by God. When i was 20 I was married and my husband did not want me to do that kind of,work so I was in Retail Management for over 25 years. When I was no longer married I went to school and received my CNA License and I was able to fill my heart and soul again with that peace that I receive from helping others and when they sincerely thank me I am still overwhelmed with happiness. Dignity is a huge part of a person's happiness and to help with that juat completes me. I do hope to go further with my education in the medical field and become a RN. I have an Associate's Degree in Business Management. Other than that I love animals, the ocean/beach, riding horses and a good book. I am a,Christian, however when working with a patient I respect their believes.
I am 43 years old, I have been working in the medical fields since I was a Junior in High School. I have worked in Hospitals to nursing homes, to Home Health, and living with clients 7 days on 7 days off. I have worked with all kinds of patients from people having Aids, COPD, mentally disabled, you name it. My favorite was me caretaker of two mentally disabled sisters, they were and still are like family to me. I guess I find myself more attached to people with special needs because I have a older brother whom is mentally challenge. Elderly people I am very fond of as well. I have a big heart and very compassionate. My stepfather when he was alive out of us five siblings he used to say I was his favorite because I was the one whom has the big heart and always takes care of everyone. Sometimes I find that very rewarding because the way I see it if I give and I take care of people that needs to be helped I know that God will bless me than what he already has. My stepfather died of a massive heart attack and My father died this past year 2019 of COPD one week before I was supposed to go home to Indiana to tell him I love him and hold him in my arms. I did home health for about six clients, I got very attached to them as well. It hurts me very much when you get attached to your clients or patients and they pass away. I am sorry I can go on and on talking about myself but I will leave the rest up to questions you might have for me.
I have a very kind heart and a passion to help others who are in need of assistance. My grandfather taught me the compassion for caring about others, especially the elderly. My grandfather had Dementia and severe back problems and always needed my assistance when I was growing up. I truly believe I have what it takes to help others and to be a great companion.
I became a caregiver at age 18.I knew from a child that this was my passion and i'm very good at it.It's very rewarding caring for someone who needs help and me being able to provide a service. My most personal achievement is helping consumers/residents accomplish things that most thought couldn't be done.I am very caring, dependable, trustworthy, and understanding. My dream is to one day open my own group home.
I have worked as a caregiver for several years off and on. I've worked as a private caregiver as well as with companies such as Wynnwood Assisted Living which was my last employer. I love working in this field. It's very rewarding knowing that you're making a difference in someone's life.
