My first job, at age 10, was summer companion to my maternal grandmother. Working for the family matriarch required abundant labor (my grandmother was elderly), but the daily chores gave rise to an unexpected pleasure; I liked being responsible. For 12 lovely summers, I cleared the acorns from her croquet court, hiked to the store to buy her groceries, and delivered her (she did not drive) by rowboat to tea at the homes of neighbors. Within the formality of her cottage, I learned to be a responsible member of a household. And whether I felt like it or not, I learned to be good company. Still under my grandmother's spell, I have worked as a lady's companion and as a gentleman's secretary for more than 20 years. Although I am no longer gathering acorns, I accompany my employers on their travels, keep them company at cultural events, edit their memoirs, encourage them to draw and paint. I have found these employments to be congenial and remunerative. They give me great pleasure. I have a friendly personality and, that might not be in general what makes me really great at everything I do but, it sure has a high standard that accompanies my level of skills. I don't remember ever failing to an assignment where I embrace "PATIENCE" to top my challenges. That's also one of my considering skill. I categorize myself to a needy position to what everyone is looking for to be happy with life and, it's "SATISFACTION". I always go hard as it requires to reach out satisfaction to all my clients. Because satisfaction plays a major role to success. Everything that brings success comes along with "God, FAILURE, PATIENCE, MOTIVATION, DETERMINATION, HARD WORKING, RESPECT and all that brings SATISFACTION then SUCCESS. What attracted me being a caregiver is the smile I empower to bring to both sides of my clients and their families. I feel a hero to be able to bring peace and joy to elders. Their happiness is what makes me happy. And that's what enjoys me most about being a caregiver. I'd lose count if I'd have to explain about personal achievements I'm proud of but, I'll go with a recent one. Not too long ago, I started a new case where like so many caregivers have tried to work the case out but, found themselves in bad positions to keep up with the assignment. The patient family even said that was their last tryout for their love one because the patient is TOTAL CARE and very demented. She fights a lot and the patient is very strong. Thx God with my skills, I'm the only caregiver that lasts longer with the patient and I'm still running her assignment. I know what song to play to make her take her meds. I know how to approach her to calm her down and make her listen to me and I know how patient that I gotta be to have her get in the shower for me. She's doing way better than before. It's all joy now in this family's house 1.First of all I believe I have the right balance of knowledge, and skills. I am approachable, sociable and reliable.
2. Care giving taught me the spirit of putting others first. Being a server to them. I believe that I should look not only for my own interests, but also for the interests of others. Therefore, this is what make me feel passion about offering my time, energy to help others.
3. Being raised by a single mother made me to have so much respect even on women, not only caring for them as patients or clients, but treating them as my own family or parents as I have been taught when I grew up. It gives me sense of pride just to care for other people.
3. Also, being able to reach as a way of social responsibility. Having a volunteerism spirit to do things that changes others lives without being paid for it.
4. I'm a very loving person. Patient, motivational speaker, I am also a mentor to the youth. I am very hardworking, I have passion to excel in every capacity in my professional life and I believe that nothing is possible in life if we go out to claim it. I have lived in Malaysia, Australia, Botswana, South Africa before. I also visited UK, Singapore and Thailand in 2008. I enjoy cooking, reading current affairs, research work, writing, social networks and public speaking. I strongly believe in advocacy. My main interests lies in Sustainable development, Family development, Health care, Poverty alleviation and HIV/AIDS.
