Being a lifelong volunteer, I am currently looking to devote myself to caring for persons in need in a professional capacity using my volunteer and professional experience and expertise. My role in caring for others includes: I was a certified hospice volunteer for seven years with the Religious Sisters of Charity of the Roman Catholic Church and other Not-For-Profit hospices and the care of family members who were wheelchair-bound and an Alzheimer patient. Hospice responsibilities included; companionship, emotional support for patients and their families, transportation to and from medical appointments, the physical care of non-ambulatory patients, organizing family events, and ensuring medications were taken properly, routine household chores - including light cleaning and cooking, etc. I have held certifications in; First Aid, CPR, defibrillation, certification in caring for persons with blood-borne pathogens, firefighting, slip trips and fall prevention, HAZMAT, etc. I was the caretaker for both my mother and father in their later years. My mother was confined to a bed and wheelchair following a stroke until her death. My father suffered from dementia until he passed away. My duties included emotional support, the running of the household, supervising household repairs, cooking, transportation of wheelchair-bound persons, scheduling of medical and other appointments. The coordination and oversight of medical care with health care providers for both parents and other similar duties were assumed by me as my parents' health declined. Hi my name is Katie I am a great personal caregiver. I love elderly people I have 3 children of my own and I believe that when we get older we turn into babies again so I absolutely love to make. Them happy and take care of them in angry times and hard times and sad times i can always make them smile and I can always take care of every need. I know how to talk to the ones that have dementia Alzheimer's and take care of them. I know what to do if I find them pass out on the floor aren't conscious. I can do CPR. I'm used to changing Pampers making beds changing sheets doing laundry cooking for them bathing them if I have ben able to get the ones outside that never want to go get fresh air. I'm really good at Making Them want to do that own their own. I'm good at making the last days or last years of someone's life feel like it's worth living again. Its a job that I do because I Love it not just for the money the money's a plus I love to make them smile and feel good and I love to make sure their families have a Good piece of mind knowing that they have a good caretaker for their loved one, While they do what they need to do on a daily basis that's what I'm here for.

What makes me a great caregiver is that I love my job , I love and have dedicated my entire life and career to date for loved ones and other families . I have a huge heart . I have always gone above and beyond for all my clients and families. I'm not in the profession because of the money it's because I love people and I care about people and helping them and End of life care is my speciality because I want my clients to leave this world with there loved ones beside them with dignity and respect and if there's just one thing that I can do for a client or a family member or both and I know that I did everything I could to make them comfortable and less scared then I no I've done my job as a care giver and a good one . When I was a young girl I always wanted to be a nurse, I loved helping others , and my dream came true, I've worked in health care with geratric clients for over 26 yrs. I love what I do and that's why I've dedicated my life to helping others in many ways , not only at work . It's more than a job for me . I have 3 children and 5 granddaughters , I moved to AL, 2.5 years ago and this is my home now .
