I was put into a situation at childhood taking care of my mother with rheumatoid arthritis. Taking care of my dad after college for over 14 years from a major stroke. I know what it is like for the patient and the family. I know what it is like when you loose your dignity having to depend on someone to feed you, dress you, bathe you and still find beauty in life. I am a very caring person and caretaking or elders comes very natural to me. I treat each individual the way I would like to be treated. I left my job 6 years ago with AT&T as a Senior Project Manager to take care of my wife w/cancer and daughter with systemic lupus. I know what it is like being sick and depending on others to get you through the day. I tried to get back to work but having been out of work for 6 years and over 50 its been almost impossible. Lets get real I think its time for a carreer change and doing something I truly am good at and enjoy. Its not about the money but what I enjoy doing...

I believe what makes me a great caregiver is the experience I have. I have 4 years experience working for an agency and independently. I have significant experience with hospice care, dementia, Alzheimers , Parkinson's, COPD, cancers, companion care and the general everyday care of those that can't do things for themselves anymore like cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping and showers. I always keep medical books in the homes of my clients/patients. I urge families to invest in blood pressure , oxygen, weight scales and thermometer devices so that Vitals can be monitored regularly for any changes. The medical books will keep logs of daily living such as any Dr appointments, mood changes, medications, vitals, daily diet and activities. It's important to catch/detect any change in health. Communication is big with me on keeping everyone on the same page so that the best care can be given at all times. I'm a registered health care aid in the state of California. CPR/First Aide certified. I became a health care aide because I believe our loved ones get better care at home from one on one care opposed to a nursing home.

Skills & Certifications: ALS, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Home Care Aide (HCA), Blood Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Cardiovascular Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Vision and Eye Disorders, Stroke, Respiratory Disorders, Post Surgery Recovery, Parkinson's Disease, Palliative Care, Orthopedic Care, Neurological Disorders, Hospice Care, Home Health Care, Hearing Disorders, Diabetes, Depression, Dementia, COPD, Arthritis, Alzheimer's Disease

I enjoy working with the elderly and making elderly and making them feel comfortable in their own skin. To feel powerless when you get old is one of the worst things a individual can experience. I have so so much experience with elderly people and those that are dependent on a wheelchair. I can honestly say I enjoy the company of those who can no longer care for themselves. My goal as a caregiver is to be able to give back power to those who feel hopeless and bring happiness to the life they have left. I currently am working with a quadriplegic elder lady that I love to death but she plans to move to Washington this November. I know I have made a difference in her life and also a friendship that will last forever. She is a reference so if your seriously interested in having me work for you I will give you her name and phone number and she would great be able to tell you all the hard honest and compassionate work I have done. Unfortunately I will greatly miss her but I need to find someone else I can care for when she leaves. Feel free to message me if you are interested. I am able to start working in November from 8:30am till 2pm.

Skills & Certifications: Neurological Disorders, Blood Disorders, Medical Assistant (MA), Cardiovascular Disorders, Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis, Cancer Recovery, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Hearing Disorders, Home Health Care, Hospice Care, Orthopedic Care, Post Surgery Recovery, Renal and Urological Disorders, Skin Disorders, Respiratory Disorders, Stroke, Vision and Eye Disorders

Working with people in a home care setting, it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion caregivers will let the person they are caring for know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. I love to give the client the help they need and keep a smile on their face
