I became a caregiver because I was a housekeeper at the job Hanford nursing and rehabilitation center tthat I currently am working for now and as I would be cleaning residents rooms they always would ask for help. My having no experience I wasn't able to help lay elders down or do other things they asked so it would break my heart so I decided to go to school and the day I graduated and started as a Cna mmy life changed and so did the elders I love my job and what I do. I love seeing the smile on the residents that I take care of I am able to help them in any way I can. My personal achievement is graduating from Cna school and being able to do what I know love on a daily basis. I am 29 yes old and love working with and for people I am a sweet young lady and work hard as I can for my 5 children.
What makes me a great caregiver is that I have compassion and I enjoy helping other people. I got into this business when I helped my father thru his stage 4 throat cancer. I will never forget that last 6 months and the time we spent together as adults I'll treasure them always. I learned while helping my father that sometimes independent people need help too but don't want to ask and I enjoy being the one to give help
I am a very patient, passionate, and caring person. I also have many years of experience in many different areas. Helping with my own family members and their needs encouraged me to want to become a caregiver. Plus I enjoy being able to help others when they are no longer able to help them selves. The thing I enjoy most is getting to know each individual and being a part of a second family in their care. I am proud that I graduated 1/2 a year early from high school just to start my CNA program on time because I didn't want to have to wait to get started.
I AM A PEOPLE PERSON NO DOUBT ABOUT IT :) I LIKE TO GIVE THE CARE TO MY PATIENTS & CLIENTS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE. I AM VERY DOWN TO EARTH & LIKE TO GET TO KNOW THEM. AS OF 2007; I HAVE NOW BEEN ON BOTH SIDES OF CAREGIVER & BEING CARED FOR. WHICH AFTER SPENDING ALMOST 6MO IN HOSPITAL ..3 OF WHICH I HAD LOST USE OF MY LEGS--- I HAVE EVEN MORE RESPECT & EMPATHY FOR OTHERS. TO ME MAKING MY CLIENT FEEL THE BEST THEY CAN..WHETHER IT IS BECAUSE OF A SHOWER OR JUST SOMEONE WHO WILL LISTEN .. MAKES MY DAY :) I TRULY LOVE WHAT I DO. I THINK THAT JUST PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY SAY & DO .. HELPS ME ANTICIPATE WHAT THEY NEED. ONE ON ONE'S FOR ME; REALLY ALLOWS ME TO GIVE THE VERY BEST CARE I CAN GIVE.... AND THATS ALL I CAN DO .. IS MY BEST:)
What makes me a great caregiver is that I love people and love to help in any way I can. What made me become a caregiver was when my sisters were diagnosed with cancer I was the one who had to step up to the plate and care for them and now I would like to do the same for someone else if possible.

When my son got hurt in 2010 and spent a month in the hospital, I knew I wanted to go into the medical field and give back the care that my son was given. Being a caregiver is not just about providing excellent care, for me it is also about maximizing my patients independence. I am very proud to say that I have achieved my senior rehab specialist certificate. I am not just a caregiver, I also have extensive training in the neuro rehab and mental health field and that is where my passion is. I have experience with adults with brain injuries and mental/physical disabilities as well as children with autism and brain injuries. It is my goal to get these patients that depend on others and teach them to be as independent as possible.
