I have been working for Partners In Care in Grass Valley, working both in home health and at the assisted living facility Eskaton since the beginning of this year. I have worked as a babysitter and nanny, caring for children for several years. I am currently in my final year of a Physical Therapist Assistant program and will be beginning my internships this month. I have the skills necessary to transfer, ambulate with, and bathe seniors in a safe manner. I am very compassionate and wiling to do the extra work to assure safety and to provide a comfortable and positive environment for those I am working with. I am CPR certified. I used to have my Wilderness EMT certification and was a ski patroller. I feel that I can handle emergency situations well. I am passionate about doing the best I can to make the lives of those around me a little bit better. I am looking forward to hearing from you, and I can assure you that you will be happy with my strong work ethic and positive energy.
I have lived in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for 20 years. I love the outdoors and enjoy running, yoga and mountain biking. I have always wanted to work in the caring professions. I have worked in fields of social work, medical clinics and education. I also love art and taught art at the local charter school when my daughter was young . My daughter is now 17 and taking off for college in the fall. I have experience taking care of all ages of people from newborn to nineties.
When I was 16 yrs old I started working in the hospital always wanted to a nurse but lived in a rural area where there was no place to study, so later in life I started to work in nursing homes and assisted living centers, eventually branching out on my own. It's just somthing I'm passionate about and will continue to do till I need a caregiver. Im honest reliable and compassionate and belive in keeping loved ones at home on there own surroundings. My last client was 101. I was with her for 10 yrs. For her 100th birthday I made her birthday wish come true we even made the local paper. She wanted a ride in and ambulance with 2 goodlooking EMT's around town since she had been bed bound for 7 yrs. I got the locals to come out where we stopped the sang to her brought her flowers, it was amazing. She was a beautiful person.
I became a caregiver for my mother for almost 3 years ,prior to her death. She was bedridden for the last year. I dealt with all her needs & the Hospice people that attended her. Since then I have cared for 2 different elderly women. One recovering from hip replacement ,that initially needed 24/7 care & companion to the other that was almost blind. I am very good at making them laugh & focus on the humorous side of aging. Something I think is missing from most elderly people's lives. I enjoy listening to their stories- their experiences. I consider myself easy to be with & adjustable to many situations.
