I became a caregiver when my aunt needed care, and we had trouble finding a suitable caregiver for her needs, after she passed, I kept taking on other clients, and eventually started working for an in home caregiver company. I enjoy being a caregiver, because I get to help bring back a sense of stability to someone that has lost independence. I like to feel like I can make a difference in someone's life, and help them enjoy the small things in life that we take for granted, until we can not do them anymore. I currently work for an in home care company. The laws will change as of January 2015. I will not be able to work the hours I am use to, so I will need to find a second client outside my agency. I would like to be able to work with both clients.

I became a caregiver because of my Mother she had became ill and I wanted to care for her but because I was not experienced in the health field she wanted some one who was in the health care field, so she had to go to the hospital and when I went to visit her I seen that she was in pain and uncomfortable in the hospital bed, and I tried to help her but did not know how too, and that made me very angry, so I decided to take a class in nursing Assistant and Home Health, but by the time I was finished with the course my Mother passed away. which helped me to see that their are others that need help in their homes and in nursing homes and I wanted do it for my mother to care to those in need and, I love caring for others, and I know my Mother is smiling down on me every time I make a difference in helping someone to live their life as much as possible. My greatest achievement is when making life better for others, like I met a lady who had had a stroke and her husband was caring for her and she was having problems with her hands stiffening up so I made her a home made device to help her be able to open and close her hand for exercise, so she could regain her strength in her hands and move her fingers. It was just rolled up towels but it helped her and made a difference and she was so pleased and so was I.

I have experienced as a caregiver for 15 years now> I started in Israel taking care of 2 old lady for 2 and half years until and moved to Canada and worked there as a nanny to two 6 and 4 year old girls. Then I moved here in the United states and been working as a caregiver since, the shortest time that I was with a patient was 3 and half years and the longest was almost 5 years. I always stayed in one patient and had build and strong relationship that most of them consider me as part of their family. I love being a caregiver because I am able to enjoy and learn from them a lot. Being with them taught me a deeper understanding that the job we do requires compassion, love and respect for them.. My greatest achievement that I am so proud of are all the lessons that I have learned taking care of different kind of people, The appreciation I got for taking care of someone is something I consided a great achievement. I am 47 years old, married, no kids, love to sing and love to learn new things..
