I retired from state employment as a secretary nine years ago, and soon started a new career that would give me an opportunity to be of service to others. Caregiving has been the perfect second career for me. I started my first care giving job as a volunteer with the Sacramento Senior Companion Program. I provided care and companionship for elderly women for one year. I also worked with clients through the Seniors Helping Seniors Program, but for the past seven years, I've primarily worked part and full time for clients through the County of Sacramento's In-Home Support Services Program (IHSS). (I've also had private hires through care.com and carelinx). My duties have included basic housekeeping, and providing transportation to doctor's appointments, grocery stores, etc.; and other personal services as needed. As an added bonus, I can offer advocacy services for clients with financial, medical, or home service issues; research prescription information; provide home safety advice; and offer companionship. I'm always eager to learn new things, and welcome any questions you may have about my experience and qualifications. It's my preference to work part time during weekdays. but I always try to be flexible. My car is almost new, and my DMV record is clean. I prefer that job sites be located less than 15 miles from my home in Antelope, if possible. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile, and I hope we might have an opportunity to work together in the future!

My name is Margaret and I am a Dementia and Alzheimer's specialist. I am experienced in Memory Care. Memory Care clients are my favorite people in all of healthcare! Though my first pick is with the Dementia and Alzheimer's clients, I have had other clients with other conditions, such as, stroke, diabetes and congested heart failure etc.. In 2011 when my ex mother in law became sick I became one of her caregivers. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed caring for her. I do believe this is my calling. I was once offered a position as manager of a home health company. I did not think I could do that job. I was right because I need to be the caregiver not the office person. I love my job. I like everything about caregiving. I love my seniors. I love their stories and their laughter. I'm happy when they are happy. I look forward everyday to seeing my seniors. I love cooking, cleaning and fussing over my seniors, so I'm a natural at caregiving. Remember if you love what you do it's never a job. My fee starts at $18 an hour. My fee increases if the shift is split. Also would like employer to pay a share of taxes. I am currently working for $22 an hour but I am not so sure that after 34.5 months it's working. So money is not the deciding factor for me. If you are looking for an experienced Alzheimer and or Dementia CNA , I could be the one!

Nursing is a calling for me. Making sure that people receive the best possible care I am able to provide is my most important goal. Safety first always, compassion, dignity, privacy, respect and hope are all important attribute's that I find essential to good nursing care. It is a meaningful gratifying experience to know that I can add to someone's life and possibility bring goodness when health issues can be a challenge and so often depressing. Good nursing requires being completely present while in someone's home or in a facility. My standards are no cell phones while at work, no clock watching, and I always address people with respect by using MR.or Mrs. (last name) until I am encouraged otherwise. Using Mama or Papa and other terms of endearment are not appropriate for me personally in professional healthcare. I use old fashion "yes Mam, yes Sir, no Mam, no Sir. and in an audible understandable language. CNA #00648980
