From the time I was a little girl I always wanted to help people. My mother a sweet warm hearted women was born with a rare condition at the time hyperglycemic leucine sensitive. Which is a rare disorder that caused her to have many seizures due to the fact her body was unable to regulate insulin levels. From this condition she had mental retardation. The medications to help her condition have always been trial and error. I can remember while my father was at work if my mother’s sugar dropped or she began having a seizure knowing to give her orange juice to rise her sugar level.Than when she became stable giving her protein since it’s a long lasting stabilizer. Sometimes if her sugar dropped and wasn’t caught in time she would go into convulsions. I knew to keep her from banging against something and prevent her tough from going back into her throat. Growing up with a mother mentally slower than I was; I was forced to mature fast. I often times was taking care of my mother more than she was taking care of me while my father was gone. But I enjoyed doing it. I love the satisfaction of taking care of others. From then on I always had a high interest in the medical field. I loved science and anatomy. And I often read books on rare conditions such as my mothers. I took my course and become certified as a personal care aide and a home health aide. I have experience taking care of males and females with all different medical problems. I also have administered medication to most o

1 why did I become a caregiver....I was a caregiver way before I became certified I think I was 13 when I started caring for people its in my nature to help because I love it. it makes me feel good I can help someone that cant help themselves 2 what do I like about being a caregiver....I like helping people I like learning about the person because everybody is different there stories there history where they came from rich/poor how they got to where they are what they use to do 3 what is my personal achievement that I am proud of .....I would say my CNA CERT because the first time I tried to do the training I ended up with pneumonia so I tried it again got all the way to the testing part and ended up late started early but ended up behind a school bus in the middle of winter and made me late so I was failed so tried a 3rd time and passed at the top of my class with 100% 4 tell something about myself ....I started out in factory work and hated it wanted something that was always changing something that I could grow with so in 1995 I took myself and a friend to an agency to do there HHA training and passed and in Nov of 2012 took a CNA training and passed I would like to go to school for dental assisting next or massage therapy

I have worked in geriatrics with well-aged and the frail elderly my entire career. I know the importance in keeping a loved one home in their own bed as long as it is physically unsafe. I have worked as an assisted living nursing director and administrator, was the Erie County Ombudsman Director, operated a social day care and must rewardingly work hands on with the elderly. I enjoy interacting with people and their families. I have been the primary caregiver for both my parents so I know the love and devotion needed to transition into caregiver from child.
