It's very hard for them to admit to needing care and harder for them to relinquish their independence. Having a close understanding of this challenge is vital to gaining trust so they will allow assistance from a caregiver. It is a privilege to be allowed into someone's life on such a personal side, not just in their home but to provide personal care. I pride myself on being trustworthy ,dependable , compassionate as well as finding the ability to persuade them into doing what is best for them I.E exercises, bathing, eating correctly. On a more personal note, I am a wife, mother and grandmother who values family immensely.
