Hi I'm Cassidy! I fell in love with being a caregiver at my first job after graduating high school in 2016 working for a personal care home where I gained experience in many areas. Such as, dementia, diabetes, alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and many more. After a year and a half of working at this home, I was promoted to supervisor and was trained to be a medication administrator. To me, a great caregiver has a big heart, is compassionate, patient and understanding and I think that's what makes me great at what I do.

I cared for my late father when he had a stroke twenty four years ago and I developed a tender heart for the elderly. I love working with them and I believe they need love, special care and attention in their old age just like my dad offered me a lot of love, care and attention in my young age. I am a warm, loving and caring person and I would like to make a difference in a person's life, treat them with respect and love, through music, through a word of encouragement, through a smile, a warm embrace an acts of kindness. I am reliable, detail oriented, respectful, creative and organized. The best time was when one of the elderly people who hasn't been talking or saying anything for a while started singing when I was playing a song on the CD and humming along, I felt so accomplished and victorious in that moment. I made a difference in her life that day, through music.

I am an energetic, kind, and compassionate person who has dedicated the last 12 years to helping seniors age in place. Although my bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona is in Nursing/Biology, I pursued other career opportunities for much of my professional life. I returned to hands-on care 12 years ago because of the deep satisfaction I feel when I help a family honor their loved one's decision to remain at home, living as independently as possible. I am highly organized and I excel at coordinating all aspects of care, which enables family members to attend to their careers and commitments. I have experience as a Care Manager, hiring, training, and managing a caregiving team for a family that needed 24 hour care for their father. Over 20 yrs experience caring for people of all ages and abilities. 5+ yrs as a CNA in PDX first working in a small facility for people w/ HIV/AIDS then onto temping at LTC Facilities all over PDX. 18 years working for UCP, OR w/ adults w/ CP & intellectual disabilities. 5+ yrs as an "Enhanced Worker" HCW doing in-home care for Aging & Disability Services. Now certified in WA as a HCA to work in-homes. Additional interests & education include: Cosmetology, Naturopathic Assistant & Juice Bar Manager. Study Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan & Meditation. Some massage school experience too. Strong interest in Nutrition and Whole Foods Cooking & Herbs. I decided to become a caregiver when I was in College, I have my Medical Assistant degree, but I realized working as one, I am not around elder people as much as I want to be. I took care of my grandmother when I was a little girl, and hearing her stories and helping her with her needs I realized that's the kind of thing that makes me really happy and proud about something. My personal achievement that I'm really proud of is that I got to help others in a way I never though I could. I always put them before my self because it brings me joy knowing I was able to help someone.
