Im upbeat, energetic, silly by nature, understanding and compassionate. I can be a strong leader and motivate others but I tend to do it through a combination of reason meets humour. I love the outdoors and love helping others stay independent. I know what its like to be on the recieving side of care so it really means a lot to me to preserve dignity and be a friend to my clients. I have been a CNA for almost 15 yrs. I have experience in every area. I've worked in hospitals, long term care facilities, home health, hospice and I've worked with every age. My interest in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) was sparked by my great-great-great grandmother. Watching her journey and providing care during her transition was a profound experience. I have worked in the medical field for over 23 years as a Medical assistant and lab technician. I have worked in skilled home health care and emergency room care as well as oncology and geriatric specialties. I left the field 2 years ago to do private caregiving. I enjoy working with people and I am very dedicated and compassionate.

Hmm...about me? When I took the class to become certified, I had no idea the impact it would have on my life, much less, how it would impact the person I am today. I think being personable and empathetic are important qualities that have been enhanced throughout the last nine years. I never put much though into becoming a caregiver, it just kind of came about, but now I feel like its a way for me to step away from "self." Whatever may be going on in life gets left at the door or at the time clock, then I step into another "self." Its hard to describe the way this type of work makes me feel which, in turn, has a positive affect on my job performance and I like to think people can see this shine through in my personality. I can honestly say that I'm happy to have gained the friendships, knowledge and experience I wouldn't have otherwise had a chance to gain. My most recent personal achievement is being enrolled to start on online classes to take the next step in the healthcare feild.
