In my early years my grand father was sick and needed help, and I was there asisting in caring for him. So in my teens years I taught about my parents how would I care for them if they got sick. What would I do. That's when I decided to become a nursing assistant. It's a job that I really love do. Even though it's challenging at times the experiences endless.
I love and support the the elderly clients especially when I care for them and put a smile on their faces. I felt really proud at the end of the day they will say thank you.
I am compassionate and caring. I have learned to listen and read eye and body movement from clients. I took care of one client that didn't have any family and the reward of keeping her company and making her comfortable made me happy as well as the client. The smiles on their faces and there family faces of relief is enough for me. The case that i'm proud of is that one client had surgery on both her knees and couldn't walk her dog that was sick as well with digestive problems. He had to be walked several times a day and she said he waits for me at the door every morning. He normally always stays by her side. She said he has never done that before and that he must really like and sense the care and love in me. That made my mornings seeing him sitting by the front door.
I am Geriatric nursing assistant with two and a half years of nursing experience. I also have ten years of Nursing experience as an RN in Ghana before relocating to the USA in 2016. My personal achievement I have been proud of is assisting a client with ADL , and then gradually the client became independent in performing her ADLs, and this brought joy to both me and the client because initially she could do only 25% . And as a caregiver I felt proud of that.
