Hello. My name is Melissa. I used to work in assisted living facilities back in the early 2000s. I have experience with the elderly along with alzheimer disease. My grandmother moved in with my family. I took care of her for about 7 years until she passed away 3 years ago. In the time I have taken care of someone in the last years of their life, I feel like I have helped them whether it is just sitting and listening to them talk about old times or helping with daily needs. I am proud of my 4 children. Through having to stay at our restaurant 6 days of the week, going to school and doing their homework, and going through the transition of life with their great-grandmother. They are tough and I am so proud of them.

I am detail oriented and I do what is asked of me. I enjoy being a caregiver because I see just the little things can have such an impact on someone. MY EXPERIENCE WORKING FOR EXTENDED CARE, WAS WONDERFUL I HAD TO WORK WITH CLIENTS WITH ALZHEIMER'S AND DEMENTIA AND ALSO COLOSTOMY CARE. WHEN I FIRST STARTED I WORK WITH AN ELDERLY LADY SHE WAS FABULOUS SHE HAS ALZHEIMER'S . I WOULD MEAL PRE, SHOWER HER AND DRESS HER, REMIND HER OF HER MEDICATION TO TAKE. ALSO I WOLD HELP HER EXERCISE , AND DO PUZZLES. SHOW PICTURES OF HER FAMILY. AND COLOR WITH . AND PLAY CARDS SHE LOVED.I. WOULD EVERYTHING THAT WAS REQUIRED OF ME ON THE CARE PLAN. I ALSO WORK WITH A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS QUADRIPLEGIC I DID EVERYTHING FOR HIM SHOWER, DRESS, IRON HIS CLOTHES. PRE MEALS, CLEAN HOME. IN WORKING FOR THE ARBORS I ALSO LOVED I WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FOR ME. CLIENTS HAD ALZHEIMER'S DEMENTIA DIABETES AND OTHERS WERE ON DIALYSIS. ITS BEEN A WONDERFUL JOURNEY FOR ME. I WOULD HELP THEM SHOWER DRESS. TAKE TO THE BATHROOM. GIVE MEDICATION. IT'S BEEN. REWARDING FOR ME MAKE SURE THAT THEY WERE OK CARING FOR SOME. .YOU NEVER FORGET THEM THEY WERE A BIG PART OF MY LIFE..
