My name is Heather, I'm 41 and I've been a caretaker most of my adult life. It started when I helped care for my ex husbands grandmother and mother in their last years. From there, I ended up taking care of my own disabled children for the last 20 years. I have also worked as a care taker for Visiting Angels and learned a lot through them. As an environmental services worker in a rehabilitation and retirement home, they also provided extensive training for dementia and elder care. I enjoy enriching the lives of those most in need. I'm proud of consistently suprising myself with what I can learn and accomplish and the compassion and love I show to those around me.

I started taking care of my own uncle who is a double amputee with severe diabetic. I had to put him on a bathing PT, and regular doctor visits. After moving back to the Bay Area I found I really enjoy taking care of others and have taken care of a few private people. Now I was asked to volunteer until my background checks come back for Moraga Royale.

I am a people person. I have a passion for caring for others. I think that stems from not having anyone to care for me when I needed it. I don't ever want anyone to know that feeling. What I love most about being a caregiver is the connections I make with my clients. My proudest moment in this field caring for others is the smile or acknowledgement I get when they see me. Melts my heart every time.

I used to grow up in a beautiful facility where I was with my mother while she worked. Then, at age 6 I knew I wanted to help people just as I watched her do. The relationships she grew with these people were beautiful and she knew she was needed. I became a caregiver at age 17.
