Hi my name is Erin. Let me start by telling you why I got into this line of work to begin with. My dad is 60 yrs old now but in 2013 he was diagnosed with leukemia. He went through several rounds of chemo and then his bone marrow transplant. After a bone marrow transplant they give you medicine to keep you from rejecting the transplant. He was so sick and not getting any better. He began having siezures which lead the doctors to do more tests to find out why and when they did they found that he was allergic to the medicine and it had caused him to have several strokes. From there he went on to an acute care facility and to rehab but he was never the same. It left him paralyzed. While he was in and out if these facilities we saw so many things that were just wrong. Patients calling for nurses and the nurses never went to help. After that we took him home and mother and I learned to care for my father ourselves. After all that I decided I was going to go into home healthcare to care for people so that they didn't have to go to a nursing home because people deserve to be loved and cared for just like my father. This personal experience is what makes me a great caregiver.

I have work in many nursing homes as volunteers and as an actual CNA jobs. I love taking care of people because I've always takin care of my grandma before she passed away and that showed me that helping people is what I'm best at. I enjoy just overall helping people and making them feel better mentally and physically. The personal achievement that I am proud of is just overall becoming an CNA and currently studying to become an RN.

Born to older parents, exposed to illness, my parents didn't believe that this should be hidden from me. It would be better to be exposed in order to be prepared for life. Parents were German immigrants, and went through the second world war. One of the earliest experiences that I can remember is my dad relapsing from malaria. I applied cold compresses, and served him liquids, as the doctor told me to. My mom was ill, and cared for her until she died at age 46.I was 12. At 17, I was hired by Kimberly Quality Care as a home health aide. My client suffered a traumatic brain injury, and I learned so much from his family and the research I did on the subject. This led me to nursing school, and here it is, so many years later, and I am still learning more. Science and medicine are my passion, and that will never change. The advances made daily basis are not just amazing, but confounding. The scientific community is one I'm proud to be a part of. The best thing that I have ever done was in South Carolina, on the 3-11 shift. In order to save a life, I bypassed facility protocol, and I called rescue to send a patient to the hospital STAT. The staff was shocked, and told me that I would be fired. I was ready to lose my license, if that would just save that life. Long story short, the MD, who was also the medical director, treated this patient. He came in the following shift to let me know that the person survived, and if I had hesitated, that would not have been the case. I receiv

My listening skills go past my ears and mind. As a caregiver I listen with my heart. My upbeat attitude has a mission to make one smile. I became a caregiver as a result of seeing my mother taking care of grandpa due to an amputated leg. I got hired at a nursing home in dietary and my coworkers advised me to nurse. I did and fell in love. There is something special about helping someone and seeing the change you make in their day. I must say that is the greatest achievement. I'm originally from Oklahoma. I come from a small town called Altus.

I'm a great caregiver because I Really care and I Enjoy taking care of others! I hope that some time down the road, whether it be 20 years or 50 years, that someone cares enough to help take care of me!

I became a caregiver because at the age of 21 I became a mother to a child with a disability (Down's Syndrome) and he he a lot of medical problems and needed medical care once he came home so I went to school and got my CNA in the state of NJ. Over the past 15 years I have worked in long term care facilities, assistant living facilities as well as hospitals and client's homes. I enjoy what I do and plan on furthering my knowledge in the healthcare field for as long as I can. I honestly enjoy what I do because I enjoy helping others

When I was in high school, my grandmother became too ill for us to care for her on our own. My family hired a home health agency to provide nursing care for her. Now my grandmother is doing very well and I truly believe a lot of that is because she had such wonderful nurses. I decided to become a CNA because I would like to help others the way those lovely ladies helped my own grandmother. When I got older, I found out how much I love working for elderly people so I furthered my education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Its my passion to take care of elderly people because I know oneday im going to get old and Im going to want to same care for me.
