I love caregiving because it's such an intimate friendship that you get to build with others in our community and it has impacted and inspired me in a positive and powerful way. I started caregiving to help my mom pay bills when I was 15, and I have yet to look back and regret the time I've gotten to spend with people in their golden years of life. I will forever be grateful for the time I have spent with the people I've gotten to care for.

I am a dedicated and compassionate caregiver who has been working in the healthcare field since 2008. I have a plethora of experience including setting up appointments, medication reminder and administration, transportation, tracheotomy care, ostomy care, wound care, EKG/ECG, Ultrasounds, diabetes, memory care, psychiatric care, answering phones, hospice care, and companionship. I am a great caregiver because I enjoy caring for those who need help, mainly because it is a gift from God, he gave me the ability to be patient, and caring so I may care for others. Because I care, I enjoy what I do and my job is still fun the different personalities makes it that much interesting and the history that goes with each person makes it personal. I realized that every one has a story to tell and I love listening. I enjoy being able to be an extension for the person l work for, that extra pair of hands or that extra set of eyes whatever it is to make their life a little bit better. My most proudest moment was learning how to drive. I alwas doubted that I would ever learn how to drive but 22 years later I'm the best driver in know. I'm the kinda person thats a cheerleader l believe that my only barrier s are the ones that I create for my self. So l tell my self that I can do it, or that or I can make it happen and I do. But I also incourges people a round me to at give it your best try.

Empathetic and compassionate; I have always felt the desire to want to help since I started caregiving work 2 years ago. Trustworthy; I believe trust is one of the most important aspects of caregiving. I always make sure I build trust with my clients. I make sure my clients know I can be counted on and held accountable. I also always make sure I keep client's information confidential. Patient; over the years, I have learnt to be very patient and understanding when taking care of people with different conditions. Sometimes I try to put myself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help and this really encourages me to be very patient. Flexible. I am always prepared to go with the flow even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed. Reliable; I'm always up for my job and ready to render my services unless there is an emergency. I describe myself as dependable because I always keep my word with commitments that come with the job.

I became a care giver when I moved to NC to take care of my Great Aunt at the age of 22. After going to CNA school and working in hospitals and nursing homes I didn't like that I was not able to spend more time with each patient. That's when I started home care. I have been doing home care for 25+ years. This is my calling.

I have a BA degree in psychology and over 15 years experience in life span development, planning and care. I have spent much of my career working as a manager or administrator but I have found that I prefer working directly with the people I serve. I have since 2014, devoted my energy exclusively toward direct care. I have a strong work ethic, I am not afraid of long days and I am fond of starting and ending those days with a smile and a good attitude. I should also mention I have unique experiences for a lay caregiver. I have 5-10 years doing (in no particular order) g-tube feedings, using hoyer lifts, giving bed baths and showers safely, completing needs assessments, writing formal and informal goals, medication administration, attending doctors appointments, tracheotomy care, positioning for non-ambulatory or movement limited individuals, taking vitals, feeding individuals with dysphagia, preparing and cooking meals to meet the requirements of a mechanically specific diet (puree, mechanical soft, thickened liquids), and more. I really like caring for people and getting to know their particular style and personality. I have always enjoyed working with people with intellectual struggles and physical disabilities. On a more recreational side, I love to sing and if the people I care for like it, I will sing whenever it makes them happy (although I am not beyond using it to reward a good job eating at a meal or completing a difficult task!). I can be goofy or stoic depending on what works for the individuals I serve. Sometimes both if warranted. I am an avid student of motivational psychology and I am always up to the challenge of motivating others to do things that are safe and healthy.

I originally became a cna to keep my auntie home when she was in stage 3 terminal pancreatic cancer she passed away in 2009 and I've been cna certified ever since . I love being a cna because you touch people's lives on a daily basis it's a very rewarding job my life goal is to eventually become a occupational therapist and work with children in the future. I have experience in long term, respite, alzheimer and rehabilitation care . Dementia unit experience for 3 years and customer service training . I am currently car and first aid certified.
