Hello, Im LaChelle but I'm better known by my home care families as Chelly. Chelly Is a family nickname and I certainly feel the same about my home care patients. I've always enjoyed being given the opportunity to impact people lives and being a great help to those who can no longer perform daily living activities for themselves. The smiles on their faces are the best parts of my day. At the young age of 5 I knew I'd be in healthcare when my Grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. I was raised by her, helped her get through surgeries and home care when nurses could no longer be afforded . I have now been an aide for 11 years. I believe that is one of the biggest reasons I am a great caregiver to this day. I care for all my families as I would want my own to be treated. With compassion, dignity and respect!

Let me start by writing about what I know. No matter how much excellent medical and/or psychological care and loving support a person may receive, the person who is facing challenges inevitably feels fragile and experiences a crisis of confidence. Total care only begins at the bedside. The whole environment becomes part of the treatment plan, with a goal of encouraging the person remain engaged in the day to day decisions and activities that govern his or her life. The next thing I know is that, regardless of how smart I think I am, that person with challenges has his or her own agenda and will put every effort into achieving those goals. This deserves great respect. This requires negotiation. This requires a sense of humor. This requires open minds. This is what I know. And since every situation is different, there is no cookie cutter big enough to consider all the possibilities for care and support. Every case depends on intelligent decisions, patience, and cooperation. All laced with healthy doses of kindness.
