I am truly passionate about caring for others and I want to make a difference in your loved one's life! I am highly skilled at care giving and I am very attentive! i had been an active volunteer in Palolo Chinese Home and Liliha Nursing Home more than five years when my family lived on government welfare, when my children were very little. My interest and ability in homecare job steadily increase with my gained knowledge in nursing homes and my generous helping of many of my senior professors and sickly friends. Care giving jobs drove me to be a keen learner in many new areas, because I was not competent with others, but I self challenged for my thirsty of better knowledge and service. I found more solutions to healthy problems and care giving. i was well educated in Chinese herb by self teaching, most seniors I cared loved me also because of that. i have not started to work the paid job in care giving until very recently. I got English literature BA degree both in China and University of Hawaii Manoa. i immigrated to Hawaii more than 20 years ago. i enjoy to see people happier and healthier because of me and my well care.
I believe what makes me a great caregiver is that I can manage pretty much anything. I'm reliable, responsible and can be trusted to use discretion to make the right decisions, when family isn't available. I try to encourage clients to perform mind-stimulating activities such as reading, playing board games, and posting reminders for important tasks in visible areas. I have created scrapbooks with pictures of the client's family to help the client recognize their family members. I am proud to say that I have emotionally supported my clients, hold their hand and find the right words in moments of difficulty. At the same time, I am able to control my own emotions to ensure they do not increase the anxiety of my clients or their loved ones. What I enjoy most about caregiving is meeting new people and getting to know a little about them. Each one is special in their own way and each one is always a learning experience for me, in my personal life skills.
I care! I've been a caregiver since 99' when I cared for my grandparents, then my parents. I'm a firm believer of that saying,\" do unto others as you want others to do unto you.\" Being a caregiver you need to have a heart, passion, patience, and understanding. I'm a family oriented person that was raised old school style and church. I'm a 46 yr old Polynesian woman with heart.
I have been an private caregiver thru an private agency for over 11 yrs. I love to work w/ elders & aim for their quality of life . I have always been involved w/ elderly care starting w/ my father's declining health as a teenager . Regardless , there were many pluses & capabilities my father was independent of and I reveled in his daily individual accomplishments ....sharing his needs & independence also made me aware of how important life still is to have complete quality care of life. I continue that same belief till this day @ my age w/ all my past & present clients. My goal is to break down stereotype barriers that elders are incapable of independence & quality of life. My goal is simply seeing they accomplish the simplistic dailies ...,interact w/ individual exercises , mental and physical motor skills . My rewards is listening to their past lives . Conversations also stimulate their memories & keep it intact . I am also very experienced w/ speech care , able to detect early barium necessities & continue speech exercises . Professionally I am also experienced w/ tube feeding. I am also familiar w/ colostomy , incontinence care , R.O.M. , fluid & solid intake & out , Dr. Appts., domestic errands , outings & several other personal needs. I have worked w/ progressive to aggressive Alzheimer's and also mental incompetence such as szhorzephernia , dementia and bi-polar . I also prepped great teams and have been a lead caregiver over the years besides a teamworker . A great team matters for the quality of care for a client. My pride stems from great teamwork in order to continue our client's content and outstanding long term care .

I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a part of the health industry. When my mother was diagnosed with cancer in early 2009, I would help her with showering, combing her hair, nail care, and daily medicine reminders. When she passed my father constantly fell ill and I would be tasked to help him. In 2012, my father went into cardiac arrest and it was my quick thinking and CPR knowledge that saved his life until the paramedics arrived. Although I may be new to the health industry professional wise, I have already changed the lives of many and continue to do so because I am constantly striving to do my best for myself and the clients/patients. I will admit that I'm nowhere near perfect but I am a hard worker and fast learner and can overcome any obstacle. I enjoy being a caregiver/nurse aide because I love being able to help someone get back to feeling their best and doing what they love and not have anything hold them back, medically or physically. Also, it warms my heart to know that I helped make a difference in someone's life.
I know I am a very excellent Caregiver because I have a kind heart, humble, honest, friendly, patient, and I have a wonderful time working and helping with elderly people. I am a very hard worker and dedicated to my job. I love what I do dearly and I care so much in regards to elders. I have been doing this all my life with many of my elders including my grandfather, grandmother, mother, father, grand aunts, and grand uncles. I have so much experience and enjoy giving back to elders. I love what I do because it brings me happiness and so much joy!
Caregiving became my passion when I was asked to help a family member whose health was deteriorating and would not allow an unknown caregiver to help. I am very warm and compassionate by nature, with empathy and understanding of what someone must feel knowing they have lost their independence...of sorts, so I make it a point to make them feel that they are strong and independent I am there to just assist them in what they want to do. I have been fortunate to have a way of helping a person who doesn't want help to welcome it with encouragement and praise. My proudest achievement to date was to get a man the has severe Parkinson's, who could walk but just had no desire too try, as it was just to much effort, too walk daily and now rarely uses a wheelchair.. just his walker. The joy on the face of someone who looks forward to the time they have with you I priceless.
Number #1 i love being around elderly people and care for them. #2 i always help out of caring for these elderlys and always had a loving caring heart for them. #3 my personal achievement at the end is that i will always remember all the memory's and bonding i had built with them will always be with me. #4 the most i enjoying doing things with elderlys is taking them on adventures and doing fun stuff so they won't be locked up in the house all the time it's good to get them out and enjoy the out doors.

I was a caregiver for a 91 year old Japanese lady with dementia, for 27 months from March 2014 through June 2016. I lived with her in her house (just the two of us). When I became her live in caregiver in July 2014, she was 86 lbs, bedridden and a declared hospice. After just a few months of taking care of her, she gained weight (106 lbs) walked, not bedridden anymore and a "hospice graduate." Her family doctor was so amazed and said that if not for her dementia, she would have been in excellent health condition. She and her four children (they do not live with her) love me like their own family. I love her as my own mother, too. My lady has diabetes, too and I was able to control her sugar by proper diet. My eldest is a nutritionist by profession and I have learned a lot from her. I gave my lady daily a nutritious smoothie drink made of veggies, banana and papaya. She loved it and had developed the habit of drinking the healthy smoothie. I am not a caregiver by profession but my culture as a Filipino is all about respect and care for the elderly, thus, the caring part came out naturally. I was a retired professional who chose to serve and it paid off by the way the family treats me. I went to school to learn and acquire caregiving skills. I also passed the CNA state certification in Hawaii but unfortunately let it expire.
