I am 31 years old and have been a CNA since 2010. I also starting doing home care on top of nursing home care and absolutely love it. I love making people smile and helping them with daily task they need assistance with to make their day go a lot easier and happier. I look at my clients as family. I treat them as i would want my family memeber to be treated.
From the time I was a little girl I always wanted to help people. My mother a sweet warm hearted women was born with a rare condition at the time hyperglycemic leucine sensitive. Which is a rare disorder that caused her to have many seizures due to the fact her body was unable to regulate insulin levels. From this condition she had mental retardation. The medications to help her condition have always been trial and error. I can remember while my father was at work if my mother’s sugar dropped or she began having a seizure knowing to give her orange juice to rise her sugar level.Than when she became stable giving her protein since it’s a long lasting stabilizer. Sometimes if her sugar dropped and wasn’t caught in time she would go into convulsions. I knew to keep her from banging against something and prevent her tough from going back into her throat. Growing up with a mother mentally slower than I was; I was forced to mature fast. I often times was taking care of my mother more than she was taking care of me while my father was gone. But I enjoyed doing it. I love the satisfaction of taking care of others. From then on I always had a high interest in the medical field. I loved science and anatomy. And I often read books on rare conditions such as my mothers. I took my course and become certified as a personal care aide and a home health aide. I have experience taking care of males and females with all different medical problems. I also have administered medication to most o
I am at my best when helping other people. I receive a lot of joy out of knowing that my presence and care is needed and helpful. I can be quite bubbly. I love to laugh, and enjoy making other people laugh as well. I enjoy listening and getting to know people. I like to understand people by getting to know them through their personal stories and life experiences. I'm always willing and able to learn. I wanted to be a caregiver after working at Elderwood for a few months. I realized how much I care for the residents and how much their well being means to me. And it was made clear to me that I couldn't spend as much time with them as I wanted to if I was continuing as a dietary aide. I've been told by my other employees that I'm very good with the residents and know how to be patient and kind even when they are lashing out at me. I've never been a caregiver, but I think I would most enjoy their company, even though it is my job to keep the client company. I feel like people these days have forgotten how important it is to sit down and listen. To learn from a past generation who grew up very differently than we did. And I know our generation could benefit greatly from listening to our elders, especially those who feel they don't have a voice or feel forgotten. Helping other people humbles me. It reminds me of how small my problems are and it distracts me from the self-centered attitude that tends to latch on.
What attracted me to be a care giver is when my mum got sick for a long time and that's how I learnt today sickness can knock your door and tomorrow it can knock to someone else . I took care of my mum untill her last moments and she died a happy soul. So when I see a client Inneed I see as my own mother I do it deep inside my heart. It has taught me to care for others , humility , patiences, sympthase with the sick .
I am the oldest of four, and a single mother, caregiving is natural to me. I cared for both of my grandparents in their later years, so they were able to stay at home as long as possible. I find immense joy in spending time caring for others. I have always been good with children and found that I am also gifted in dealing with elderly patients with dementia. I would love to spend my extra time caring for others as I work my way through seminary to become a pastor.
I have been doing hair for almost 40 years. My duties always went beyond doing hair. I also started just caring for my elderly clientele, shopping, companionship and help with showering. I love people! I work at assisted living nursing home. I do hair there but would love to help as a aide as well. My level of experience is hands on, Life and personal experience. I have a gregarious personality. I currently have 3 private duty jobs as a companion, aide showering and light cleaning. I would like one closer to my home.
Very outgoing, friendly, caring, compassionate, loving person. What made me this way is my daughter, Corilyn, who was born with neurological/brain injury. Learning how to cope and deal with this type of situation has made me the person I am today. Now, I would love to work with the elders, hear stories, and give them a helping hand when they need it.
I am compassionate, empathedic, a good listener, and have a lot of experience with caring for people. I worked in an office for almost 29 years and feel my next 29 years would be best suited not in an office. I am a people person and like providing care for those who need. I am most proud of my family. I have 2 teenaged daughters.
