Hi there. My name is Vanessa. I enjoy being a caregiver because I enjoy helping others. I am quirky, personable, outgoing, positive, down to earth, eager to learn and grow, and easy to communicate with. I learn quickly.

I am a f. I have worked with the elderly in the past and found it-to be rewarding. I feel I am compassionate and have always enjoyed be around and helping the elderly, I worked in a nursing house for three years when I was younger and did home care and helped take take of my mother before she died.I have also cleaned for the elderly for over 20 years. When I was young , being a help to others wa s very important to me. Witnessing suffering when I could make a difference was the reason for my choice to be a Medical Professional and I went to college to be a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I worked in the Heart Clinic at St Luke's Regional Medical Ctr in Boise Idaho, the Heart Transplant unit in Salt Lake City, Utah; and an LTAC Center in the San Francisco area for individuals who were difficult to wean off the ventilator and move on with their lives. A very rewarding history and it was a joy to see each patient go home with a new lease on life and move forward.

I love the fulfillment I receive by being a care giver. My first job, off the farm, was as a CNA in a retirement home. There I cared for one of several wings full of elderly people all with various levels of need. I have found that working with the elderly and being able to bring stability and comfort to their daily lives, the most rewarding job I've ever had. I take care of elderly couples in their 90's to ensure their life quality at home. Love my references.... Today, my grandma is still living independently in a very large home; at the age of 99; that she has maintained for many years. With some outside help, such as myself, she is able to go on living there instead of a retirement home. I look forward to working with my clients and see how I can make things safe and capable for them. I've also come to realize, that even a person, my own age, can have so many needs too and with just the right person to assist with the activities of daily living, makes all the difference in the world to so many people.

I am prior military. While attending grossmont college, I was the president of the student veterans organization. I thought it would be a great idea, back in 2008, to have our veterans go into the community and help in assisted living facilities and skilled nursing facilities. After seeing how short staffed, over worked, under paid, and how these patients felt, I knew I needed to help. My children and I would paint their nails, do their hair, play bingo, assist in sporting events like the, in-house Kentucky Derby, with stick horses, play music, feed them and provide comfort during the holidays, make mobiles for patients one their ceilings, for the ones that could not get out of bed, and provide comfort for so many people that do not have family or friends to visit them.

My life is built around love and compassion. I have worked in healthcare for 17+ yrs, with some of my my most memorable moments in elderly care. I have worked anywhere from, home health, hospice, memory care, assistant administrator, etc. I have spent the last 5 yrs as a stay at home mom raising my children. I love working with our elderly community because they have lived and know a life, we will never know. I love to listen to their history, how they were raised, and see them through different eyes. Laugh and smile with them. They were once young just as you and I.

I am very caring. I'm a hard worker, and I dont like to give up. If I don't understand or dont know something I ask questions to make sure I'm doing it right. I am quick to learn. I love being a caregiver mostly because i like to make sure they are comfortable and stress free. I want to make sure they are safe. I want their family to know they are taken care of, so they don't stress as well. I have achieved many things but being able to be there for my patients is my personal achievement that I am proud of. When they know I will be there for them even when they are surrounded by support or family, I love that they can always have me around to help the patient/family out.

I have strong inter-personal skills and I can easily connect with people and establish trusting relationships. I have experience working with elderly people, as well as administration and data entry experience.

Since leaving school I have always enjoyed being around people, I enjoy helping people and making their days better. My mother had Multiple Sclerosis and I was her carer before she moved into a nursing home. I am able to care for someone needing assistance with their daily activities; be that bathing, grooming, feeding, going to appointments or companionship, and many other things as needed. If you have animals, then that is just fine with me; I love all animals very much.
