Working with people in a home care. Or residental setting can be challenging but also rewarding at the same time. To be s successful caregiver it not only takes book smarts but a few essential qualties only certain people have that makes them stand away from the rest. I posess the following qualities and that is why I feel I stand out from the rest. it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. By showing both empathy and compassion i am letting my resident know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. Make them feel important and at that moment the most important. Patience. Is a virtue many do not posess. When you work with someone who is depending on you to help them with things they can no longer do it is important that you are patient and understanding. It helps to sometimes put yourself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help. When a person is rushed that is when mistakes happen and injuy and accident occur. I am someone that can be counted on to be there. If I says i am going to be there to provide cares every Thursday morning, then inwill be there every Thursday unless there is an emergency. Those needing home care services need a reliable and dependable caregiver. Trustworthy. Most people need care services are in a vulnerable position. They are inviting someone into their home/room to be near their valuables. A good caregiver is someone who is trustworthy in this regard, as well as in being trusted to keep the client's information confidential. Flexible. As with most things in life, home care needs may change and unexpected events can happen. A good caregiver will be prepared to go with the flow, being flexible, so that they continue to provide good caregive, even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed.

I became a caregiver because I was working long hours in retail and hated it. I had a friend who opened up my door to mentally disabled adults care and loved it! I then started part time work with older ladies helping them with daily tasks around their house or taking them shopping. I want to continue to be a caregiver and help those in need.

I love helping others, I'm going to school to get my ged, and I plan on pursuing a career in nursing. Being compassionate and understanding is some of my personal traits when it comes to taking care of someone. I love taking care of people but that really set in when I started cleaning houses 3 years ago. Most of our clients are older people and we went above and beyond just cleaning we wanted the people we cleaned for to feel loved and taken care of. I love just talking to them, to hear so many stories that they have and to make them feel loved and wanted.

I'm great with people; I love interacting with them and making them feel at ease. I'm committed and tenacious, never give up on a task or obligation. I want to do more, be more involved with patients and what better way than being a caregiver? None. I'm proud of where I am today, and where I am headed. I'm cpr certified and have my med certification. I have experience with Alzheimer's and dementia patients as well as paraplegic and quadriplegics. I currently work to other jobs but that won't stop me from being on time and to show up. I work a 12 hr shift 2 day on 4 days off revolving days and I work inhome care with an incomplete quadriplegic Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's. I have worked out a plan with this client that when I have the 12's I only come in on the other two days I'm not working there. I'm very strong willed and passionate about what I do. I will make it all work out, I am really resource full. If I really want something I'll go for it. I currently do not have a car at the moment and that's a down side but I always get to work. I'm an extremely hard worker. Up for anything, willing to learn more
