Why did I become a caregiver you ask. Growing up I always was around the older women in my family. I loved listening to all the old stories. When my grandma got sick I watched how her CNA will just come in and do her anyway. It break my heart. As I got older the love got stronger for elderly. The best part of being a caregiver is knowing that your able to help someone when they need you the most. I'm a young woman with a bright future ahead of me. I'm a mother of three beautiful little young men Alexander Lamar and Akai

I am a very sociable person with great compassion and passion of giving care.I am graduating next Monday as an Licenced practical Nurse. With my transition from a home health Aide to a Practical Nurse I have received vast knowledge ,skills and experience in the field which improves my quality of care .I am gifted with patience ,understanding and kindness which everyone admires and commends me for.Out of a personal experience,I drew the passion to give to care having being the only able person available to take care of my ailing grandmother with a terminal illness till her final days.It brought out a side of compassion and empathy in me I didn't know existed and it boosted my spirit of continuing with my nursing career for a lifetime.I enjoy when I am able to meet my goals of client interaction benefits and wellness, getting to interact with clients of all walks of nature and sharing appropriate lifetime experiences with my clients and bringing out the best in them.A moment I am really proud of is during my clinical experience in a particular nursing home,I was the only one as a student who was able to use therapeutic communication to bring back a patient who was buried in depression over loss of a significant other.Through talk compassion and a lot of understanding,I helped the patient open up,talk his heart out, start eating again as well as take medications again of which he had completely refused after learning of the loss of the significant other.Family is forever grateful for that deed.I am a certified Home Health Aide,CPR and First Aid certified,I am also a certified Mandated reporter.
Caring for people is my passion! My mother was a cna all her life so I grew up in nursing homes volunteering at an early age. My first job, at age 10, was summer companion to my maternal grandmother. Working for the family matriarch required abundant labor (my grandmother was elderly), but the daily chores gave rise to an unexpected pleasure; I liked being responsible. For 12 lovely summers, I cleared the acorns from her croquet court, hiked to the store to buy her groceries, and delivered her (she did not drive) by rowboat to tea at the homes of neighbors. Within the formality of her cottage, I learned to be a responsible member of a household. And whether I felt like it or not, I learned to be good company. Still under my grandmother's spell, I have worked as a lady's companion and as a gentleman's secretary for more than 20 years. Although I am no longer gathering acorns, I accompany my employers on their travels, keep them company at cultural events, edit their memoirs, encourage them to draw and paint. I have found these employments to be congenial and remunerative. They give me great pleasure.
I chose to be a caregiver from my childhood taking care of my loved ones in my family whoever got sick and was hospitalized, I was number one to go and take care of them, when I grew up, started to take care of my Mom who had diabetes and High blood pressure, came to America and started working in a small assisted living for people with Alzheimer and my passion for care increased .I was so happy to make a difference in these people and make them smile.
